    Abstract: Systems and methods for providing enhanced Quality of Service (QoS) network transmissions can be based on an application sub-class or a user class. Systems and methods can include inspecting the information packet having a network level QoS field having a first network level QoS portion and a second network level QoS portion, determining an application sub-class or user class associated with the information packet, tagging the first network level QoS portion of the information packet according to a first network level QoS value, tagging the second network level QoS portion of the information packet according to a traffic priority indication and to a determined application sub-class or user class, and queuing the information packet for transmission from a network element based on the tagged first network level QoS portion and the second network level QoS portion.

    Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for optimizing the channel switching process in an access point. Periodic background scanning of a current channel on which a radio is operating to determine channel utilization can be used to generate a ranked channel list from which to select an alternative channel to which the radio can migrate, for example, in the event of a radar signal(s) being detected on its current channel. To maintain connectivity for clients, the clients may be temporarily transitioned to a non-DFS channel while an isolated/dedicated radio chain is used to perform the requisite Channel Availability Check (CAC) assessment on a DFS channel if the radio, based on the ranked channel list, selects a DFS channel as the alternative channel.

    Abstract: Example methods and apparatus to generate recommendation(s) for access point association by a client device are disclosed. An example method includes calculating an effective uplink data rate for the client with respect to a first access point based on a) an uplink data rate and b) a percentage of uplink airtime available to the client. The example method includes calculating a first effective downlink data rate with respect to the first access point based on a) a downlink data rate for and b) a percentage of downlink airtime available to the client. The example method includes computing a first metric for the first access point based on the first effective uplink data rate, the first effective downlink data rate, and a noise floor scaling factor. The example method includes generating an access point recommendation by comparing the first metric and a second metric for a second access point.

    Abstract: A network controller may include a memory and a processor. The memory may include instructions executable by the processor to receive a message from an access point. The message may comprise an interference event detected on a particular channel, wherein the particular channel is part of a particular channel list associated with the access point and stored at the network controller in a wireless local area network (WLAN). The memory may further include instructions executable to remove the particular channel from the particular channel list associated with the access point. The memory may further include instructions executable to determine a channel plan for a plurality of access points in the WLAN based on a corresponding plurality of channel lists including the particular channel list and deploy the channel plan to the plurality of access points.

    Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for generating a client device fingerprint model and identifying client devices using the model. Identifying client devices includes monitoring traffic transmitted over a wireless network to an unknown first client device, the traffic using at least one value of at least one wireless network operational parameter; determining, for each at least one value of the at least one wireless network operational parameter, a respective probability of successful packet reception at the first client device; comparing each probability to a data model representing probabilities of successful packet reception at each of a plurality of known second client devices for each of a plurality of values of the wireless network operational parameter; and associating at least one of the labels of the second client devices with the first client device based on the compare.

    Abstract: An example method for altering a transmission rate of a networking device. The example method comprises transmitting a first set of packets using first transmission characteristics represented by a first state of a finite state machine. The example method further comprises receiving information including a success status of transmission of the first set of packets.
