Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A first user equipment (UE) may be configured to communicate with a first base station, where the first UE is configured to relay wireless communications between a second UE and the first base station via at least a sidelink communication link between the first UE and the second UE. The first UE may receive, from the first base station, an indication for the first UE to perform a first handover procedure from the first base station to a second base station. The first UE may transmit, to the second UE via the sidelink communication link and based on receiving the indication to perform the first handover procedure, a sidelink transmission including a trigger for the second UE to perform a second handover procedure or a reselection procedure. The first UE may then communicate with the second base station based on performing the first handover procedure from the first base station to the second base station.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications in a multiple bandwidth part environment are described. In response to a serving beam failure in an active bandwidth part, the UE may determine a level of support provided by the active bandwidth part for a random access procedure, and may determine a contingency (e.g. fallback) bandwidth part that supports the random access procedure. In some cases, the UE may identify the contingency bandwidth as an initial bandwidth part used by the UE for a prior random access procedure. In some cases, the base station may send to the UE, an explicit indication of the contingency bandwidth part. In some cases, the UE may identify the contingency bandwidth part based on a reference signal. Upon determining the contingency bandwidth part, the UE may perform the random access procedure using the contingency bandwidth part.

Abstract: A method of wireless communication for a user equipment (UE) includes entering a dormancy period for a secondary cell group (SCG) of a base station (BS) during which no downlink (DL) data or control transmissions are received from the SCG; performing a channel state information (CSI) measurement on the SCG during the dormancy period to generate a measurement report; determining an uplink (UL) beam of a primary secondary cell (PSCELL) of the SCG; transmitting the measurement report to the BS on the UL beam of the SCG; and determining, during the dormancy period and after transmitting the measurement report, one or more downlink (DL) beams for communicating on the SCG based on one or more rules and based on the measurement report, wherein the one or more rules result in the BS determining the same one or more DL beams based on the measurement report.

Abstract: Logical channel prioritization and mapping to different numerologies is disclosed for 5G networks having multiple network slices operable for communication via logical channels associated with different numerologies. For user equipments (UEs) configured to handle multiple numerologies, different rules for mapping logical channels associated with different numerologies may be defined for data and non-data channels. Thus, when new data arrives at a UE for communication via a logical channel associated with a different numerology, the UE checks whether the mapping rules would allow multiplexing of the new numerology data onto an existing data channel. If no data channel has already been allocated or if an allocated data channel may not include data from the new numerology, then a mapping is followed for specifically requesting resources for communication of the new numerology data. The new mapping may trigger scheduling request or random access procedures specifically associated with the new numerology.

Abstract: NPRACH suffers from false alarms in which a base station detects and cannot distinguish an NPRACH signal that is intended for a different base station. An NPRACH may include a cell specific frequency shift pattern over repetitions and/or a repetition level scrambling sequence that enables a base station to more accurately detect NPRACH. An apparatus generates an NPRACH signal comprising multiple repetitions, wherein each repetition comprises multiple symbol groups. The apparatus may apply a different frequency shift between repetitions of the NPRACH signal. The frequency shift may comprise a cell specific random frequency shift pattern applied over each repetition. The apparatus may apply a repetition level scrambling sequence to the NPRACH signal, wherein a single scrambling sequence is applied to a set of repetitions comprised in the NPRACH signal. The apparatus transmits the NPRACH to a serving cell.

The at least one processor is configured to receive a pre-allocation resource for a target cell via a handover command and transmit a physical layer acknowledgment based on a target cell downlink packet. The at least one processor is also configured to receive an indication for a communication with the target cell in response to the physical layer acknowledgement and access the target cell using the pre-allocated resource based on the indication for the communication with the target cell.
