Abstract:
A portable fixture for supporting a vacuum filtration device includes a cradle portion and a clamping portion. The cradle portion supports the vacuum filtration device. The clamping portion removeably attaches the portable fixture to a support in order to secure and support the filtration device above a workspace. The portable fixture may also provide a vacuum to the filtration device. To that end, the portable fixture may have a vacuum inlet port which may be connected to a vacuum source and a vacuum outlet port that is fluidly connected to the vacuum inlet port.
Abstract:
A method of removing a filtrate storage bottle from a water bath includes inserting at least two finger underneath a radially protruding lip of a filtrate storage bottle sealing cap and raising the at least two fingers to lift the bottle from the water bath. A side wall portion of the filtrate storage bottle sealing cap is smaller in perimeter than a circle surrounding the radially protruding lip. The cap creates a liquid tight seal with the filtrate storage bottle.
Abstract:
A manifold and filter assembly for use with a waste collection unit is provided. The manifold and filter assembly directs and filters medical waste flowing into the waste collection unit. The manifold and filter assembly comprises a manifold body defining a chamber and an outlet for directing the medical waste into the waste collection unit. A manifold cap is fitted to the manifold body to close the chamber. The manifold cap defines a plurality of inlets for receiving the medical waste. A filter basket having a bottom and a peripheral wall defining a plurality of openings is snap-locked to the manifold body. The filter basket is positioned such that a fluid bypass is formed between the filter basket and the manifold body and between the filter basket and the manifold cap. The fluid bypass is in fluid communication with the outlet whereby the medical waste can flow over the peripheral wall to the outlet through the fluid bypass.
Abstract:
Disclosed within are methods and apparatus for screening a slurry, in which the slurry is vibrated and conveyed across a screen and suction is applied from below the screen. Air, particles and liquid are drawn through openings in the screen and may be conveyed to a separator, where the particles and liquid are then separated from the air.
Abstract:
A device for purifying liquid in a reservoir and including a vacuum chamber (1) having an inflow opening (2) and an outflow opening (3) adapted to communicate with the liquid in the reservoir through a feed conduit (4) and a return conduit (5), respectively. The return conduit (5) is provided with a pump (6) and the vacuum chamber is connected with a vacuum pump (7). The device further includes a filter cartridge (8) provided with a plurality of filter elements, each having a flow side communicating with a central passage (36) and a flow side opening into the periphery of the filter cartridge (8). The filter cartridge (8) is arranged inside the vacuum chamber, the central passage (26) of the filter cartridge communicating with the inflow opening (2) of the vacuum chamber.
Abstract:
A backflush filter device for filter elements (22) is incorporated in a filter housing (10)having a filter inlet (18) and an outlet (20) for the liquid to be filtered. The filter elements (22) permit flow in both directions for a filtration, or backflush. One filter element (22) may be performing a filtration and, simultaneously, at least one other filter element (22) may be backflushed to clean its effective filtration surface. To assist the backflushing, a vacuum device (42) is provided. The vacuum device generates a vacuum at the filter element (22) to be backflushed. The efficacy of the ongoing backflush is increased to be able to remove even the toughest contaminants. The cleaning process uses little energy and occurs in a defined manner, such that the backflush volumes may be both specified and minimized.
Abstract:
A vibratory screening machine including a frame, a vibratory motor on said frame, a bed on the frame, a plurality of screens on the bed, a chamber below each of the screens, and a source of suction and pressure in communication with each of the chambers. A method of screening a slurry containing a mixture of fine and coarse particles and liquid including the steps of providing a vibratory screen, passing the mixture across the vibratory screen, applying suction on the opposite side of the vibratory screen from the mixture to draw liquid and fine particles from the mixture through said screen and into a chamber below the screen, and either intermittently terminating the suction or applying pneumatic pressure to the chamber.
Abstract:
A filtration funnel with integral prefilter usable for filtering fluids. The integral prefilter is disposed above the final filter which is sealed to the funnel. The prefilter may contain one or more layers of prefilter material, and is sealed to the funnel with one or more seal rings. The funnel may be used with either vacuum or pressure.
Abstract:
A vacuum assist system and process for handling cutting fluid and chips collected from a series of machine tools includes a closed header pipe extending below a series of sumps associated with the machine tools, the sumps draining into the header pipe. The header pipe has a down leg extending vertically down to a filter tank which is opened periodically to drain the header pipe, developing a vacuum which assists the flow of liquid down the header pipe so as to insure a sufficient flow velocity in the header pipe to carry the collected chips out of the header pipe and into the filter tank with the cutting fluid.
Abstract:
An apparatus for removing solids from a liquid/solid mixture disposed in a tank and rising to a mixture level, the apparatus including a suction assembly defining a suction opening, the suction assembly linked to a vacuum that causes suction at the opening, a support assembly formed about the suction surface including first and second essentially circular housing walls having wall edges and a filter belt loop sealed to the edges and sized such that the belt is slack and subject to deformation between the edges, a belt section disposed to cover the suction opening and a processor controlling a motivator to periodically alter belt position with respect to the suction opening.
