Abstract: The solar powered water purification device is intended to provide users with an apparatus for the rapid purification of dirty water to drinkable water, using only the power of the sun. To accomplish this, the device uses an insulated tub and a detachable solar panel with an extra sheet of glass to trap heat that can power all the electrical components of the distillation unit as well as heat up the impure water in the insulated tub. The insulated solar panel has a temperature sensitive vent to prevent the panel from overheating if there is no water in the unit. To prevent the unit from collapsing from the vacuum, the unit uses a grill that has many hollow legs that also act like thermal tubes to quickly move the heat from the panels to the dirty water. Thus, the device is an energy efficient and cost-efficient apparatus for water purification.

Abstract: An apparatus and process that exposes aqueous media to a first one or more rotors, and to a second one or more rotors, the second one or more rotors spaced from the first one or more rotors to define a static zone. The first one or more rotors, the static zone and the second one or more rotors may be enclosed within a treatment vessel and may be operated by a drive component capable of variable rotational velocities. Exposing the aqueous media to gas supersaturation under pressure results in the aqueous media becoming multiphase fluid and, due to non-water components, a complex, compressible, multiphase fluid exhibiting non-Newtonian fluid characteristics. An increased level of symmetric and asymmetric cavitation events, energies, and their effects are achieved, beyond those that can be attained by conventional low energy hydrodynamic cavitation systems.

Abstract: A distributor plate for a fluid treatment tank such as a water softener pressure vessel separates the resin bed from a lower end of the resin tank. The outer peripheral surface of the distributor plate is laser-welded to an inner peripheral surface of the tank. The outer peripheral surface of the distributor plate may have a biasing mechanism that biases the outer peripheral surface of the distributor plate against the inner peripheral surface of the tank. The biasing mechanism may include a plurality of peripherally-spaced resilient fingers extending axially and radially away from a circular base of an outer ring of the distributor plate into engagement with the inner peripheral surface of the tank liner, each of the fingers having a base connected to the base of the ring and having a free end. Also disclosed is a method of making a fluid treatment tank.

Abstract: A system (1) for drying sludge (2) comprises a drying surface (4) to accommodate the sludge (2) as well as a moveable sludge turner (3) as well as two travel paths (5.1, 5.2) that extend at least partially on opposite longitudinal sides (L) of the drying surface (4) and are separated from the drying surface (4) by a barrier (18). The sludge turner (3) comprises at least a first and a second wheel (14.1, 14.2) mounted on opposite sides of a common gantry (7) of the sludge turner (3). While the sludge turner (3) is in operation, the first wheel (14.1) rolls on the first travel path (5.1) and the second wheel (14.2) on the travel path (5.1) as the respective travel plane. In the region of the first travel path (5.1), the barrier (18) comprises a first guide (16.1) and a second guide (16.1) in the region of the second travel path (5.2) extending in the direction of travel (F) of the sludge turner (3), wherein the sludge turner (3)—while the latter is traveling—is guided transversely to the direction of travel (F) with the aid of the guides (16.1, 16.2), and wherein the guides (16.1, 16.2) extend upwards from the drying surface (4) and act as a barrier for the sludge (2) spread on the drying surface (4) to keep sludge (2) away from the travel paths (5.1, 5.2).

Abstract: A method of separating trace amounts of amphiphilic substances from water which is contaminated with the substances, the method comprising the steps of: admitting an amount of the water, which includes an initial concentration of the substances, into a chamber via an inlet thereinto: —introducing a flow of gas into the chamber, wherein said introduced gas induces the water in the chamber to flow, and produces a froth layer which is formed at, and which rises above, an interface with the said flow of—controlling the water content of the froth layer which rises above the interface to influence the concentration of the substances therein; and—removing at least some of the froth layer from an upper portion of the chamber.
