A transport stream recording device, method thereof, transport stream reproduction device, method thereof, and recording medium for efficiently recording and reproducing transport streams. A source packet having a four byte TP_extra_Header attached to a 188 byte transport packet is generated, 32 source packets of 192 bytes each are collected, and aligned units generated equivalent to a three sector portion of data (6144 bytes) are recorded or reproduced on the recording medium.

A recording apparatus, a recording method, a recording medium, and an electronic camera which create an index file (IF) for holding index information of a file separately as a fixed data length portion and a variable data length portion and record the index file on the recording medium. The recording apparatus comprises creating means for creating the IF including a plurality of areas to each of which a unique identifier is assigned and recording means for recording the IF on the recording medium, wherein the creating means divides file attribute information into first attribute information of a fixed data length and second attribute information of a variable data length, holds separately a plurality pieces of first attribute information associated with a plurality of files, respectively, and a plurality pieces of second attribute information associated with the plurality of first attribute information, respectively, in the plurality of areas while the plurality pieces of first attribute information are associated with the plurality of files, respectively, and the plurality pieces of second attribute information are associated with the plurality pieces of first attribute information, respectively, and the creating means collects areas of the plurality of areas with a fixed data length as a first area group, and collects areas with a variable data length as a second area group, and holds them in the IF.

In optical disc apparatus, time data recorded on an optical disc is read out, and a read-out time at this timing is compared with an immediately previous display time. Only when the read-out time is within a time range that is obtained by adding a predetermined time to the immediately previous display time, the display time is updated and the updated display time is output. When the read-out time is outside the time range, the display time is not updated and the immediately previous display time continues to be output. Even in case where the read-out time is outside the predetermined time range, when read-out times are stored a predetermined number of times and time continuity exists in the read-out times, the display time is updated to the latest one of the plural stored read-out times, and the updated display time is output.

A video content edition support system is provided which includes an imaging device (2) to record captured video content data to a recording medium (14), an editor's terminal unit (4) to display video content data transmitted from the imaging device (2) and a network to connect the imaging device (2) and editor's terminal unit (4) to each other. The video content edition support system further includes a recorder to describe electronic mark data related to the video content data in the video content data, an electronic mark list generator (28) to generate electronic mark list data including header information on the video content data, and an edition unit (26) to edit the video content data on the basis of the electronic mark list data. The video content edition support system permits to select necessary video content data on the basis of the heater information in which a feature of video content data included in the electronic mark list data is described and edit the video content data directly. Information on the to-be-edited video content data is collected in the electronic mark list data.

Automatic video recording system and method are provided which make it possible that programs to be automatically recorded are selected according to objective criteria from the programs that are scheduled to broadcast in the future. In configuration, an information generator of a program information providing server ranks the broadcast programs on the basis of program rating information, and thus generates program rank prediction information. Terminal units download the program rank prediction information and an electronic program schedule. A recorded-program/digest generator makes broadcast programs of a certain rank or above be automatically recorded by referring to the program rank prediction information.
