Abstract: Devices, systems, and methods directed to evaluating a vessel of a patient are provided. The method includes outputting, to a display, a screen display including: a visual representation of a pressure ratio of pressure measurements obtained by first and second instruments positioned within a vessel while the second instrument is moved longitudinally through the vessel and the first instrument remains stationary within the vessel; and a visual representation of the vessel; receiving a user input to modify one of the visual representations of the pressure ratio and the vessel to simulate a therapeutic procedure; and updating the screen display, in response to the user input, including: modifying the selected one of the visual representation of the pressure ratio and the vessel based on the received user input; and correspondingly modifying the unselected one of the visual representation of the pressure ratio and the vessel.

Abstract: An intraluminal sensing system is provided, which includes an intraluminal device. The intraluminal device includes a flexible elongate member that can be positioned within a body lumen of a patient, and an ultrasound sensor at a distal portion of the flexible elongate member and configured to emit an ultrasound pulse in a longitudinal direction and to receive ultrasound echoes from the pulse. The system also includes a processor circuit in communication with the ultrasound sensor. The processor circuit is configured to compute a velocity spectrum of particles moving within the body lumen based on the received ultrasound echoes and, based on the velocity spectrum, compute a skew index indicative of a position or alignment of the ultrasound sensor within the body lumen. The processor circuit is also configured to output an indication of the skew index.

Abstract: An atherectomy device including a handle configured to be manipulated by a user. Abstract: The invention generally relates to medical imaging systems that instantly and/or automatically detect borders. Embodiments of the invention provide an imaging system that automatically detects a border at a location within a vessel in response only to navigational input moving the image to that location. In some embodiments, systems and methods of the invention operate such that when a doctor moves an imaging catheter to a new location with in tissue, the system essentially instantly finds, and optionally displays, the border(s), calculates an occlusion, or both.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices are provided for automatically adjusting the scale or magnification of an intraluminal image on a display of an intraluminal imaging system based on a measured or computed size of the vessel. For example, a system may include a processor configured to receive, from an intraluminal imaging catheter or guidewire, a first intraluminal image of a body lumen, and compute a dimension of an anatomical feature of the body lumen based on the first intraluminal image. The processor computes a scaling factor for the first intraluminal image based on the dimension of the body lumen, scales the first intraluminal image by the scaling factor, and outputs the scaled first intraluminal image to a display in communication with the processor circuit.

Abstract: A co-registration system includes a processor circuit that co-registers intravascular data and user annotations to locations along a guidewire shown in an x-ray image. The processor circuit receives, from an x-ray imaging device, x-ray images of a blood vessel while anintravascular catheter moves through the blood vessel along a guidewire. The processor circuit receives, from the catheter, intravascular data representative of the blood vessel while the catheter moves through the blood vessel. The processor circuit co-registers the intravascular data to locations along the guidewire shown in the x-ray image received from the x-ray imaging device. The processor circuit also generates and co-registers annotations such as bookmarks to the guidewire.

Abstract: In an embodiment, a medical system is disclosed. One embodiment of the medical system comprises a medical processing unit in communication with an intravascular instrument configured to be moved longitudinally within a body lumen and in further communication with a radiographic imaging source configured to obtain radiographic images of the intravascular instrument while the intravascular instrument is moved longitudinally within the body lumen. The medical processing unit is configured to receive radiographic images obtained by the radiographic imaging source, track the intravascular instrument within the radiographic images while the intravascular instrument is moved longitudinally within the body lumen, calculate a movement speed based on the tracking, compare the calculated movement speed to a predefined target movement speed, generate a speed-adjustment suggestion based on the comparison, and output the speed-adjustment suggestion to a display for review by a user.
