    Abstract: Described are methods and devices for communication between local networks and global networks. In some examples, a method comprises storing mapping data for multiple hosts in a global network and in a local network. The method further comprises receiving a first data packet from one of the multiple hosts in the local network. The first data packet comprises a first source address being the local network address of the host in the local network, a first destination address being the local network address of the host in the global network and payload data. The method further comprises determining, based on the mapping data, the global network address of the host in the local network and a global network address of the host in the global network, and sending a second data packet over the global network.

    Abstract: The present invention provides an object recognition system for recognising objects within an environment, including: tags, each tag being associated with a respective object, each tag including: a tag memory to store an object model being a computational model indicative of a relationship between the respective object and a shape encoding layer; a sensing system including: a sensing device to sense the environment; a sensing system memory to store a sensing device model being a computational model indicative of a relationship between sensor data captured using the sensing device and the shape encoding layer; sensing system processing devices to: receive object models from a transceiver; retrieve the sensing device model from the sensing system memory; acquire sensor data indicative of the environment from the sensing device; and analyse the sensor data using the sensing device model and the object models to thereby recognise the objects within the environment.

    Abstract: The present invention is directed to a battery management system for managing one or more second-life battery packs. The system comprises one or more buffer modules. Each buffer module is configured for coupling to a corresponding battery pack. Each buffer module is operatively configured to determine a type of battery pack upon detection of the corresponding battery pack being coupled thereto. Each buffer module includes a battery pack controller for controlling charge and discharge cycles for each battery pack based on the type of battery pack as determined by the corresponding buffer module. Each buffer module includes a bi-directional DC to DC converter for converting a voltage input from the corresponding battery pack to a predetermined system output voltage.
