Abstract:
This invention provides methods, systems, and compositions for detecting low abundance microbial DNA in a sample by broad-range PCR. Methods of the present invention are based on a novel strategy that tags the 5′-end of the target DNA templates with a non-bacterial tagging sequence so as to set the templates apart from the endogenous contaminants present in the PCR reagents. There is also provided fusion probes for tagging the templates and primer sets to amplify the tagged templates. Systems and kits for facilitating and automating methods of the present invention are also provided.

Abstract:
The present invention discloses a highly efficient method of isolating circulating tumor cells in a blood sample by removing leukocytes and other interfering components in a blood sample. Exemplary isolation method relies on a specially configured separation column for magnetic separation of leukocytes from circulating tumor cells. Also disclosed are systems, devices, and reagents for performing the method, as well as diagnostic methods for early cancer detection, screening, and treatment monitoring utilizing the cell isolation method.
Abstract:
The present invention discloses an oral cancer biomarker and an inspection method using the same. The biomarker is Mca-2 binding protein (Mac-2BP), which can be directly detected in the specimen of the body fluid of a testee, and which can realize a fast and effective clinical diagnosis of oral cancer.

Abstract:
A waste gas treatment process using biological treatment technology including filtering waste gas to be treated, and introducing the filtered waste gas into a biological treatment system periodically and switchably from two ends of the system.
Abstract:
Cholesterol inhibitor produced by Monascus, monacolin k, is a secondary metabolite of polyketides. The invention provides probes specific to monacolin k biosynthesis gene cluster. BAC clones having putative monacolin k gene cluster were screened from BAC (bacterial artificial chromosome) library, and sequencing and annotation were performed on these clones. The results show that 2 polyketide synthase (PKS) genes and 7 regulatory genes related to monacolin k synthesis were obtained. Full-length cDNAs of these genes were then obtained by RT-PCR and cloned to expression vectors for the expression of these genes.
Abstract:
A biological composite and method for reducing H2S are disclosed. The biological composite for reducing H2S includes a carrier and Thermus sp. immobilized on the carrier. Therefore, if a sample containing H2S has contact with Thermus sp. or the carrier with Thermus sp. immobilized thereon, the amount of H2S can be reduced.
