    Abstract: A compressed air drying system is provided for removing moisture from compressed air. The drying system is a modular system with multiple drying units arranged parallel to each other. The drying units cool the compressed air and remove moisture from the compressed air. In order to limit the number of drying units used during low demand periods, a separate air valve is included for each drying unit to control the flow of compressed air through the respective drying units.

    Abstract: A user interface assembly that can be selectively attached to a housing of a tool, including mobile and handheld tools. The assembly can include a housing having an opening that extends through a first side of the housing. A user input device in the form of a rotatable and linearly displaceable control ring, which is housed in the housing, can extend within a portion of the opening such that the control ring is recessed from the first side of the housing. A display that can visually communicate tool information and selectable settings to the user can be positioned within the housing, and centrally located relative to a central bore of the control ring. The display, which can remain relatively static relative to a rotational displacement of the control ring, can be inwardly offset from a first side of the control ring, and thus also recessed within the housing.

    Abstract: A separation tank useful to separate a compressed gas from a byproduct of compression (such as a lubricant/coolant used in the compression process) can include one or more baffles. The baffles used in the separation tank can include a number of passages to permit a flow of compressed gas to pass. The passages can include a louver to assists in directing the flow and/or assist in further separation of the compressed gas from the lubricant/coolant. The louvers can appear on one side of the baffle, and in one form are located solely on the downstream side of the baffle. The baffle can include a relief for liquid leveling within the tank. Any number of approaches can be used to make the baffle, including cutting and/or stamping.

    Abstract: During the process of compressing air, atmospheric air along with water vapor and airborne contaminants are ingested into the air compressor. Many of these compressors utilize oil for lubrication, sealing and cooling. A compressor system utilizes drain valves to remove the condensate that accumulates in the system which are typically located on the compressor, moisture separators, coalescing filters, receivers, dryers, and drip legs. While the drain valves successfully remove the condensate, this condensate is now contaminated with lubricant. The compressor system also includes a filter for the removal of lubricant from the condensed water so that the water can be discharged to sewer. The filter is arranged to house a series of vertically stacked filter cartridges, each cartridge structured to pass fluid flow to the other cartridge. The housing is connected to the filter cartridges via a variable length pipe extension dependent on the number of filter cartridges used in an application.

    Abstract: A gas-water separation system may be used for removing water from a wet gas compressed in a water-injected contact-cooled gas compressor. The gas-water separation system may include a tank constructed to hold a quantity of water; a heat exchanger coupled to the tank and constructed to extract heat from the water to chill the water when the water is present within the tank; an inlet port constructed to inject a flow of the wet gas into the chilled water when the water is present within the tank, the chilled water being operative to condense water vapor from the wet gas and reduce the dew point of the wet gas to yield a chilled compressed gas; a biological control system constructed to suppress biological activity in the tank; and a discharge port operative to discharge the chilled compressed gas.

    Abstract: An air compressor system useful for supplying a stream of compressed air for an end user is disclosed which includes a refrigerated dryer useful to remove moisture and harvest it from the compressed air. The refrigerated dryer includes an evaporator and a condenser, where the evaporator is useful to produce the moisture from the compressed air. The air compressor system includes an expansion tank which collects the harvested moisture from the evaporator and a supply line from a utility water supply, both of which can be used to provide liquid to a condenser of the dryer. A valve is used to bring together either or both of the condensate from the expansion tank and water from the utility water supply. The valve includes an outlet that provides liquid to a condenser of the dryer.
