    Abstract: A wearable RFID device is provided for use in an event-based interrogation zone. The zone contains terminals with RFID readers. The device has an element worn by a user and an attached or embedded RFID tag. The tag has stored data representing a UniqueID of the tag, and a stored funds balance. The tag is programmed to activate an otherwise inactive one of said terminals upon presentation of the tag to the RFID reader of said terminal in a first tap, and communicate its UniqueID to the terminal for validation. Upon validation and following a second tap of the tag at the RFID reader, the tag's stored funds balance can be changed by the amount of a transaction run through said terminal. A temporary installation of a system of RFID-based terminals and user-worn RFID devices is also provided for use within an event interrogation zone.

    Abstract: An RFID portal is provided for placing at an access point associated with a temporary event. The access point is controlled by a security control. The portal has a portal body erectable on at least one side of a user pathway at the access point; and an RFID reader in the portal body for reading an RFID tag issued to, and worn by, an individual user for the event that has an encoded unique UserID readable by the RFID reader. The RFID reader is located in the portal body, so as to be physically proximate to a location of the user's body where the RFID tag is worn. The RFID reader is in communication with a server which has stored a list of valid UserIDs for the event. The RFID portal also has an indicator system for receiving notification from the server that the read UserID is a valid UserID for the event and generating an indication to the security control, such that the security control permits the user to proceed along the pathway.

    Abstract: A wearable RFID band is provided for use at a reserved seating event. The band has a band element worn by a user, and an RFID tag printed on the band element. The RFID tag has stored data representing a UserID of the tag, seat information of the associated user, and a stored funds balance preloaded by the user to an associated account. The tag is programmed for activating an otherwise inactive terminal upon presentation of the tag in a first tap, and communicating the UserID to the terminal for a first validation against valid UserIDs and associated user data stored on a server. The tag is further programmed, following a transaction request and a second tap of the tag at the RFID reader, for triggering a second validation that the UserID at the second tap matches the UserID of the first tap. The transaction request is granted only if both of the validations are positive.

    Abstract: The invention provides a temporary installation of a system of RFID-based terminals and user-worn RFID devices within an event interrogation zone. At an event, terminals are located within, and associated with, vendor booths erected in the interrogation zone. User RFID devices are issued to users wishing to enter the interrogation zone. Each user RFID device includes an element worn by the user, and an attached or embedded RFID tag with a stored unique UserID. Products for sampling have unique ProductIDs. The terminals are programmed for: (1) retrieving the UserID when the user enters the vendor booth; (2) retrieving a ProductID of a product sampled by the user; and (3) retrieving the UserID when the user leaves the vendor booth. The UserID and timestamps of entry, departure, and ProductIDs of products sampled are communicated to a server. The system allows tracking of products sampled and user behavior during an event.
