Abstract:
To generate a proof of a printable item, a data structure is provided that maps a set of spot colors into a respective set of color values based on measurement data provided by a measurement device of colors printed by a printing system from the spot colors.
Abstract:
An apparatus for backing up a digitally stored image includes a substrate on which the image and digital restoration data corresponding to the digitally stored image are printed on the substrate. The apparatus may be scanned to restore the image printed thereon to its original digital form.
Abstract:
A method for determining image sharpness estimation of an image. Image data for at least one column of pixels and at least one row of pixels of the image is sampled. A first filter is applied on sequential differences of sampled image data resulting in a first filtered sequence of first filtered values. A second filter is applied on the sequential differences resulting in a second filtered sequence of second filtered values. A feature set of pixels of the image is selected. Image sharpness estimation is determined based on the first filtered values and the second filtered values of the feature set of pixels.

Abstract:
A system and method for rendering high dynamic range images includes a rendering manager that divides an original luminance image into a plurality of original subband images. The rendering manager converts the original subband images into original contrast images which are converted into original perceived contrast images. The rendering manager performs a compression procedure upon the original perceived contrast images to produce compressed perceived contrast images. The rendering manager converts the compressed perceived contrast images into compressed contrast images which are converted into compressed subband images. The rendering manager performs a subband combination procedure for combining the compressed subband images together with a lowest-frequency subband image to generate a rendered luminance image. The rendering manager may combines the rendered luminance image with corresponding chrominance information to generate a rendered composite image.

Abstract:
A soft proof system includes a display module and a manager. The display module displays a visual representation of a print product, and a color array expressing a tolerance range of a color component of the visual representation and a target color within the range. Via the manager, a visualization function produces the visual representation and the color array according to a soft proof array. A tolerance selection function, associated with the display module, enables selection of the tolerance range for at least a portion of the print product, wherein the selection is expressed on the display in the visual representation and in the color array.
Abstract:
Color transformation sample point identification is described. A subset of points from a superset of points representing a colorimetric relationship is identified. The subset of points defines an initial n-simplex with (n+1) points representing an approximation of the colorimetric relationship, where n represents a number of dimensions. An additional point from the superset of points is selected and added to the subset of points to replace the n-simplex with a set of at least two n-simplices. The additional point is selected such that a volume of an (n+1)-simplex formed by the (n+1) points of the initial n-simplex and the additional point is increased. An error value for the approximation is determined by calculating an error volume between the (n+1)-simplex and the superset of points.
Abstract:
A system and method is disclosed for managing resource consumption during print production. The method discloses receiving a print job and a set of print job constraints; calculating a set of printing resources required to produce a print job output from the print job according to the set of print job constraints; measuring a set of available printing resources; producing the print job output from the print job, if the required printing resources are less than the available printing resources; and identifying a set of fall-back print job constraints and repeating the calculating and producing steps using the fall-back constraints, if the required printing resources are greater than the available printing resources. The system discloses various modules for effecting the method and including: a processor, a color transformation module, a printing resource module, a printing module, and a print job dialog module.
Abstract:
Processing of a digital image includes using a machine to convert numerical representations of colors in the digital image to lexical representations of the colors. The lexical representations may be used for image processing such as color reproduction. Examples of lexical-based color reproduction include, without limitation, using the lexical representations to perform color correction of an image display device, identifying potential problems with color shifts, generating statistics about lexical boundary crossings, and developing image processing pipelines.
