Abstract:
A scaffolding assembly adapted to be releasably attached to an elongate support member such as an overhead pipe. The scaffolding assembly has a split collar and a platform assembly adapted to be releasably attached to the split collar. The split collar comprises at least two segments which can encircle the pipe and be secured to one another. The platform assembly which includes a platform deck has a connector formation which extends laterally outwardly from the deck to an extent that it can engage a receiving formation on the collar assembly and thereby attach the platform assembly to the collar assembly.
Abstract:
Devices that include a low sensitivity bulk acoustic wave (BAW) resonator sensor including a surface to which a low recognition component is immobilized, the low recognition component being configured to selectively bind the analyte, an analyte molecule to which a tag is linked, or a tag, or any one of these molecules to which an amplification element-linked second recognition component is bound; a high sensitivity BAW resonator sensor including a surface to which a high recognition component is immobilized, the high recognition component being configured to selectively bind the analyte, an analyte molecule to which a tag is linked, or a tag, or any one of these molecules to which an amplification element-linked second recognition component is bound; one or more containers housing an amplification molecule, the amplification element-linked second recognition component, and optionally one or both of the tag and the analyte molecule.
Abstract:
A method of filling a plurality of bottom gusseted pouches disposed on a roll in a top-to-bottom end orientation is provided. The method comprises unwinding the respective bottom gusseted pouch from the roll; providing access to an interior compartment defined by front and back panels and the bottom gusseted end of the respective bottom gusseted pouch; filling the interior compartment with at least one item to produce a filled pouch; and cutting the respective bottom gusseted pouch from the roll by cutting between the top end of the respective bottom gusseted pouch and the bottom gusseted end of an adjacent bottom gussetted pouch connected to the respective bottom gusseted pouch.
Abstract:
This document provides methods and materials related to vesicular stomatitis viruses. For example, vesicular stomatitis viruses, nucleic acid molecules encoding VSV polypeptides, methods for making vesicular stomatitis viruses, and methods for using vesicular stomatitis viruses to treat cancer are provided.
Abstract:
An apparatus for dreadlocking hair comprising a motor and a means for holding or engaging a strand of hair. The holding means is rotated by the motor, so that the strand of hair is twisted into a dreadlock, that is, a twisted bundle of hair where hair on the surface of the bundle describes a purely helical path, at least in a newly dreadlocked part of the strand.
Abstract:
A launching device comprises a shaft having a first end and a second end, a head coupled to the first end of the shaft and a handle coupled to the second end of the shaft. The head comprises a cavity and a launch ramp curved both upwardly and outwardly from the cavity, wherein a distal portion of the launch ramp extends outwardly beyond the cavity in a forward launching direction. An angle is defined by the longitudinal grip axis and the distal portion of the launch ramp to direct a projectile disposed in the cavity in the forward launching direction.
Abstract:
A method is provided for encoding characters that specify a source address of an SMS message. The method comprises modifying a type of address field within an originating address field, the modification indicative of an encoding scheme used for the source address of the SMS message.
Abstract:
The present invention pertains to a method of generating a normalized digital image of an iris of an eye for the purpose of creating an iris code for identification of vertebrates, including humans, the method comprising the steps of: capturing one or more digital images of the eye with a camera; constructing a plurality of imaginary outer iris boundaries in the one or more digital images, based on a known dimension of the outer iris boundary of the eye of a given species of vertebrates; and using said imaginary boundaries for transforming the one or more digital images into a plurality of normalized iris image that are insensitive to variations in a dimension of a pupil of the eye.
Abstract:
A device for spraying an inner surface of a wall of an enclosure with a fluid is disclosed. The device includes a reservoir for the fluid, a nozzle assembly through which the fluid can be sprayed on the inner surface of the wall of the enclosure, a fluid conduit in fluid communication with the reservoir and the nozzle, a pump for delivering fluid from the reservoir through the fluid conduit and to the nozzle when the pump assembly is activated, and a controller in electrical communication with the pump wherein the controller executes a stored program to activate and deactivate the pump. The nozzle assembly includes a nozzle which directs the fluid in a fluid path, and the nozzle assembly further includes a deflection shield that is dimensioned to contact and redirect fluid in the fluid path, and the nozzle assembly further includes mounting structure for attaching the nozzle near the inner surface of the wall of the enclosure. The flow off of the deflector shield is laminar.
