A cell reselection method and system based on a cooperative scanning of the mobile relay station and mobile stations is provided for facilitating cell reselection procedure in a Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) system. The cooperative scanning method for a moving wireless network including a mobile relay station and at least one mobile station according to the present invention includes transmitting, at the moving wireless network, a scanning request with cooperative scanning duration to a serving base station; assigning, when a scanning response, neighbor base stations to the mobile relay station and at least one mobile station; scanning, at the mobile relay station and the at least mobile station, the assigned neighbor base stations; and transmitting scanning results to the serving BS station.
Abstract:
A system and method for switching a session of a User Equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system are provided. According to the method, if the UE performs a handover from a macro base station of a macro cell to a femto base station of a femto cell, a femto base station transmits a path switch request message, which includes a serving gateway relocation Information Element (IE), to a Mobility Management Entity (MME) of the macro cell, in order to request a switching from an existing session of the UE to a new session managed by the femto base station. Then, in response to the path switch request message, the MME switches the existing session of the UE to the new session and transmits a path switch approval message to the femto base station. The serving gateway relocation IE includes information requesting relocation of a serving gateway of the UE to a femto serving gateway within the femto cell.

A control method for a mobile terminal which connects to a router linked to an external network through at least one interface, including receiving a router advertisement message from the router through a first interface, determining whether prefix information of the received router advertisement message is identical with prefix information of a preset internet protocol (IP) configuration reuse group including the first interface, and generating an IP configuration of the first interface when the two prefix information are identical. Accordingly, at the time of a vertical handover, continuity of the A/V session can be maintained without having to use mobile IP technology.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for automatically searching for a low-power Base Station (BS) supporting access of a registered user in a mobile communication system includes a method of performing automatic search on a Closed Subscriber Group (CSG) cell by a User Equipment (UE). The method includes determining by the UE whether automatic search needs to be performed on the CSG cell. The method also includes, if it is determined that automatic search does not need to be performed on the CSG cell, turning off by the UE a CSG cell automatic search function of the UE by emptying a first white list including CSG Identifiers of accessible CSG cells.

A system and method for providing an emergency service in a communication system is provided. A method for providing an emergency service by an idle mode Mobile Station (MS) in a communication system includes receiving, from a Base Station (BS), a broadcast message including information on a time duration in which an emergency service message will be transmitted after waking up at a start timing point of a paging listening interval, transitioning into an idle state when a start timing point of the time duration in which the emergency service message will be transmitted is later than a timing point at which the paging listening interval is terminated, and waking up at the start timing point of the time duration in which the emergency service message will be transmitted after transitioning into the idle state.
Abstract:
A method and system for retransmitting data in a communication system are provided. In the retransmission method, a BS determines an automatic retransmission number for a multicast data frame according to the number of MSs of a multicast group, transmits the determined automatic retransmission number to the MSs of the multicast group, and repeatedly transmits the multicast data frame to the MSs until the number of transmissions of the multicast data frame is equal to the automatic retransmission number, irrespective of reception of information indicating whether the multicast data frame has been received from the MSs. Accordingly, resource consumption can be reduced and overhead can be decreased.
Abstract:
A handover method and medium of a mobile node that moves between service areas of wireless LAN and wired LAN. The mobile node carries out semi-soft handover when moving from the service area of the wireless LAN to that of the wired LAN. The mobile node carries out soft handover when moving from the service area of the wired LAN to that of the wireless LAN. Therefore, the mobile node can communicate over the wireless LAN or the wired LAN without data interruption.

In a mobile communication system including macro cells and femtocells, a neighbor cell identification method includes: transmitting, by a neighbor cell that is a macro cell or a femtocell, a neighbor cell identifier containing information regarding the type and access mode of the neighbor cell to a user equipment. The user equipment identifies, after receiving the neighbor cell identifier the type and access mode of the neighbor cell. The user equipment also accesses the neighbor cell according to the identification result.

A method for requesting bandwidth allocation by a mobile station in a communication system is provided. The mobile station detects at least one Connection IDentifier (CID), bandwidth allocation for which is to be requested, generates a bandwidth request header when the number of the at least one detected CID equals one, and transmits the bandwidth request header to a base station, wherein the bandwidth request header includes a region for indicating a first CID representing basic information for identification of the mobile station, a region for indicating a ranking of the detected CID, and a region for indicating information about bandwidth requested for the detected CID.
Abstract:
A system and method for performing handover in a wireless mobile communication system are provided. In a Mobile Station (MS)-initiated scanning method of an (MS) in a wireless mobile communication system having at least two frequency bands with different central frequencies, the MS receives from a serving Base Station (BS) a mobile neighbor advertisement message including information about available radio resources of the neighbor BSs, transmits a new scanning request message to the serving BS, if the MS determines to measure Carrier-to-Interference and Noise Ratios (CINRs) of pilot signals from the serving BS and the neighbor BS, receives from the serving BS a response message for the scanning request message, including information about a BS which has reserved radio resources for a predetermined one of the at least two frequency bands, and measures the CINRs of the pilot signals in the predetermined frequency band.
