    Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for a transportation vehicle. One method includes determining whether a connector receiver module is electrically connected to a connector of a media output device during a maintenance mode, measuring a load parameter at the connector receiver module in response to determining that the connector receiver module is electrically connected to the connector, the load parameter being associated with an electrical load at the connector receiver module, determining whether the load parameter is below a load threshold, and reporting a maintenance indicator indicating a location of the media playback device, the maintenance indicator being based on at least one of determining that the connector receiver module is electrically connected to the connector or determining that the load parameter is below the load threshold.

    Abstract: A system for creating a localized wireless network zone for a passenger on a commercial passenger vehicle is provided. The system comprises: a first media playback device and a second media playback device that are respectively disposed on a first passenger seat and a second passenger seat in the commercial passenger vehicle, each of the first media playback device and the second media playback device operable as a seat hotspot by creating a localized wireless network zone covering passenger seats located in a vicinity of the first passenger seat and the second passenger seat, respectively; and an onboard server communicatively coupled to the first media playback device and the second media playback device and configured to monitor a number of requests for a wireless connection in the commercial passenger vehicle and control at least one of the first media playback device and the second media playback device to turn on the seat hotspot based on a result of the monitoring.

    Abstract: A method for providing video programs for passengers on commercial passenger vehicles is provided. The method includes obtaining satellite beam coverage information indicative of beam coverages of one or more commercial passenger vehicles by one or more satellites; checking subscription information corresponding to a subset of commercial passenger vehicles in a beam coverage area of a particular satellite beam; generating, based on a result of the checking, a video program package including one or more video programs subscribed by the subset of commercial passenger vehicles; and transmitting the video program package to a satellite providing the particular satellite beam such that the one or more video programs of the video program package are transmitted through the particular satellite beam to the subset of commercial passenger vehicles.

    Abstract: A display in a commercial passenger vehicle can an option to be locked or unlock to enhance security. An example system for securing an in-vehicle entertainment (IVE) display in a commercial passenger vehicle comprises a mobile device and a computer. The mobile device comprises a first processor configured to secure a display located in the commercial passenger vehicle, where the first processor is configured to: obtain a payload; generate a first digitally signed payload as a first output of a first mathematical computation performed on the payload with a secret key; and send a first message comprising the first digitally signed payload and a lock command to instruct the display to lock the display. The computer is communicably coupled with the display and comprises a second processor configured to send a first instruction to cause the display to lock in response to a reception of the lock command.

    Abstract: A system for predicting an outage for a commercial passenger vehicle is described. The system includes a storage configured to store travel information of an upcoming travel by the commercial passenger vehicle that is configured to provide a network connectivity for devices in the commercial passenger vehicle to remote devices; and a server configured to process the travel information and generate an output indicative of a probability of an outage of the network connectivity based on the travel information of the upcoming travel, and wherein the server is further configured to apply a machine learning algorithm that (1) processes the travel information based on history information related to a planned route to be taken during the upcoming travel and regulation information related to the upcoming travel and (2) determines the probability of the outage along the planned route.
