Abstract:
A portable storage device for storage of data. The portable storage device comprises a first non-volatile memory of a first character; a second non-volatile memory of a second character, the second character being different to the first character; and a controller for determining to which of the first and second non-volatile memory the data is to be sent. The determining is based on a defined relationship between the first and second non-volatile memories, the defined relationship being buffer or backup.
Abstract:
Portable data storage apparatus includes a housing having a front wall, and an opening in the front wall. A circuit board is located within the housing. A connector is electrically connected to the circuit board and extends outwardly therefrom for movement therewith. A cap is pivotally connected to the housing for movement relative to the housing between a first position and a second position. An operating mechanism operatively connects the cap and the circuit board for moving the circuit board and the connector with the movement of the cap. The circuit board and the connector are in a retracted position when the cap is in the first position, and are in an extended position when the cap is in the second position.
Abstract:
An authentication system (10) to verify a password is provided. The authentication system includes a first storage unit (16) to store an authentication sequence (24) and a read-only memory unit (18) on which an authentication algorithm (26) is programmed. A microcontroller (20) is coupled to the first storage unit, the read-only memory unit and a web server. The microcontroller receives the password and executes the authentication algorithm to verify the password with the authentication sequence. A second storage unit (22) is coupled to the microcontroller to store data from the web server. Access to a second storage unit is permitted by the microcontroller only if the password has been verified.
Abstract:
A portable data storage device includes a USB controller, a master control unit and a NAND flash memory device. The master control unit receives data to be written to logical addresses, and instructions to read data from logical addresses. It uses a memory address mapping table to associate the logical addresses with the physical addresses in the memory device, and writes data to or reads data from the physical address corresponding to the logical address. The mapping is changed at intervals, so that different ones of the physical address regions are associated at different times with the logical addresses. This increases the speed of the device, and also means that no physical addresses are rapidly worn out by being permanently associated with logical addresses to which data is written relatively often.
Abstract:
A portable data storage device is disclosed that includes an interface (3) for enabling the portable data storage device to be used for data transfer with a host computer (5), and an interface controller (2) for controlling the interface (3). There is also a master controller (7) for controlling the writing of data to and reading of data from a non-volatile memory (8, 9). The non-volatile memory is at least one single level cell (SLC) flash memory (8) and at least one multiple level cell (MLC) flash memory (9). The at least one single level cell flash memory (8) and at least one multiple level cell flash memory (9) are able to operate simultaneously for improving the speed of operation over onl multiple level cell flash memory.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a device for recording and playing back audio/video signals. A portable storage device (11) has mounted thereon a portable storage device connector (13) of a first type adapted to transfer audio/video signals of a first type (15). A first audio/video system (17) has a first audio/video system connector (19) of the first type for directly connecting to the portable storage device connector (13) to exchange audio/video signals of the first type (15) between the portable storage device (11) and the first audio/video system (17) to record and playback audio/video signals of the first type (15). A second audio/video system (21) receives audio/signals of a second type (23). An interface section (25) has an interface section connector (27) of the first type for directly connecting to the portable storage device (11). The interface section (25) converts between the audio/video signals of the first (15) and second type (23), and exchanges the signals of the first and second type between the first audio/video system (17) and the second audio/video system (21) through the interface section connector (13) of the first type and a signal connection (29) between the interface section (25) and the second audio/video system (21).
