Abstract:
To improve in pulse cleaning of filters, a filter element includes a media pack of Z-media having first and second opposite flow faces and a side wall extending between the first and second flow face. A gasket is secured to the side wall. The gasket has a sealing portion and an attachment portion. The sealing portion has a flat surface at least one inch long and is located between being planar with and 0.5 inches recessed from the first flow face, inclusive.
Abstract:
A filter element includes a media pack and a gasket member. The gasket member includes first and second gasket regions separated by a channel. One or more filter elements are usable in a dust collector. One example dust collector includes a collector housing having a dirty air inlet, a clean air outlet, and a tube sheet dividing the housing between an unfiltered air volume and a clean air volume. At least one filter element is removably mounted and sealed within the tube sheet. A gasket member secured to the element includes first and second gasket regions separated by a channel. At least one projection angled relative to a plane of the tube sheet extends into the channel of the gasket member. A method of servicing a dust collector includes removing a first filter element from the tube sheet in the housing, and then sealing a second filter element against the tube sheet by orienting at least one projection extending from a plane of the tube sheet into a channel defined by a gasket member secured to the second filter element. Next, an axial force is exerted against the gasket member to form a seal between the gasket member and the tube sheet.
Abstract:
A method of providing a filter element for a dust collector having at least one circular blowpipe and pulse arrangement includes measuring an inside diameter of the blowpipe; and selecting a filter element having a width that is 7.125±0.75 inches times the inside diameter of the blowpipe; and a length that is 2.2-3.3 times the width.
Abstract:
An air cleaner includes a housing with a dirty air inlet, a clean air outlet, and an interior. A tubesheet is in the housing interior having a plurality of openings. A panel-style filter arrangement is oriented such that each one of the openings in the tubesheet is covered by the panel-style filter arrangement. A plurality of blowpipes are provided. Each blowpipe is oriented to direct a fluid pulse at a respective one of the openings in the tubesheet covered by the panel-style filter arrangement. An accumulator arrangement is oriented adjacent to the openings in the tubesheet on a downstream side of the tubesheet. The accumulator arrangement includes, for each opening in the tubesheet, a first and second plate adjacent to opposite ends of the tubesheet opening. Adjacent openings in the tubesheet share a same first or second plate. Preferably, each blowpipe is oriented to direct a fluid pulse at a respective one of the openings in the tubesheet covered by the panel-style filter arrangement at an angle that is: (i) not normal to a plane of the openings in the tubesheet; and (ii) not in line with a general direction of filtration flow through the panel-style filter arrangement. A method of pulse cleaning a panel-style filter arrangement oriented to cover openings of a tubesheet is provided. The method includes directing fluid pulses at the openings in the tubesheet and trapping at least a portion of the fluid pulses using first and second plates oriented on the clean air side of the tubesheet and adjacent to opposite ends of each of the openings in the tubesheet. Adjacent openings in the tubesheet share a same first or second plate. Preferably, the step of directing includes directing fluid pulses at the openings in the tube sheet at an angle that is: (i) not normal to a plane of the opening of the tubesheet; and (ii) not in line with a general direction of filtration flow through the panel-style filter arrangement.
Abstract:
A method for cleaning a filter having Z-media includes providing a filter having Z-media and cleaning the media construction by directing a pulse of compressed gas into the media construction through the downstream flow face. Filter elements useable with such methods include elements made of Z-media. An example system utilizing the method includes a gas turbine air intake system.
Abstract:
An air filter assembly for filtering air with particulate matter therein is provided. The air filter assembly includes a housing having an air inlet and an air outlet, and a spacer wall separating the housing into a filtering chamber and a clean air chamber. The spacer wall includes a first air flow aperture therein. The assembly includes a filter element positioned in air flow communication with the first air flow aperture. The assembly also includes a Venturi element mounted in the spacer wall first air flow aperture. The Venturi element includes a bell-mouth-shaped end portion which projects into an inner clean air chamber of the first filter element. The assembly includes a pulse jet cleaning apparatus having a nozzle oriented to direct a pulse of air into the first Venturi element in a direction toward the first filter element.
Abstract:
A gas turbine air filter system includes a housing having an interior, an inlet arrangement, and an outlet hood having an outlet arrangement. The inlet arrangement defines an inlet flow face for taking in unfiltered air. The outlet arrangement defines an outlet flow face for exiting filtered air. The inlet flow face and the outlet flow face are angled relative to each other. The angle can range between 45-135° relative to each other. The system includes at least first and second stages of filter element arrangements held within the interior of the housing. The first and second stages of filter element arrangements are operably sealed within the housing such that air flowing through the inlet arrangement must pass through the first and second stages of filter element arrangements before exiting through the outlet arrangement. The outlet hood is free of the first and second stages of filter element arrangements.
Abstract:
Filter systems and methods described herein include one or more spacer elements positioned in the dirty air chamber along with the filter elements attached to the spacer elements. The dirty air inlet delivers a dirty air stream into the dirty air chamber along a dirty air flow axis.
Abstract:
A method of cleaning a filter element includes directing a jet of pressurized gas from a nozzle onto a filter element, with the jet having a non-round cross-sectional shape that is a same general cross-sectional shape as the opening in a tube sheet holding the filter element. The nozzle has a channel for the pressurized gas that is obstruction-free.
Abstract:
