Abstract: One embodiment describes an electronic display that displays image frames with a first refresh rate or a second refresh rate, in which the second refresh rate is lower than the first refresh rate; a display driver that writes the image frames by applying voltage to a display panel; and a timing controller that receives first image data from an image source, in which the first image data describes a first image frame and a first desired refresh rate equal to the second fresh rate; and that instructs the display driver to apply a first set of voltage polarities to the display panel to display first image frame at the first refresh rate and to apply a second set of voltage polarities to the display the first image frame at the second refresh rate when polarity of inversion imbalance accumulated is equal to polarity of the first set of voltage polarities.

Abstract: An electronic device may include a lenticular display. The lenticular display may have a lenticular lens film formed over an array of pixels. A plurality of lenticular lenses may extend across the length of the display. The lenticular lenses may be configured to enable stereoscopic viewing of the display such that a viewer perceives three-dimensional images. The display may have a number of independently controllable viewing zones. The viewer may be particularly susceptible to artifacts caused by crosstalk at the edge viewing zones within the primary field of view of the display. Certain types of content may also be more vulnerable to crosstalk than other types of content. Therefore, to mitigate crosstalk artifacts, the pixel value for each pixel may be adjusted based on the viewing zone of the respective pixel and content information (such as texture information or brightness information) associated with the respective pixel.

Abstract: A privacy film may have a light-blocking layer that is interposed between first and second transparent substrates. The light-blocking layer may have a plurality of opaque portions and a plurality of transparent portions. The opaque portions may be shaped to ensure light from the display is directed only to the primary viewer of the display. Each opaque portion of the light-blocking layer may extend along a respective longitudinal axis between the first and second transparent substrates. Privacy films used to cover curved displays may have opaque portions that extend along longitudinal axes that have different angles relative to the transparent substrates. Opaque portions in the edge of the privacy film may have longitudinal axes that are at non-perpendicular angles with respect to the transparent substrates. A privacy film for a curved display may also include a light-redirecting layer such as a prism layer or a liquid crystal layer.
