Abstract: The present invention relates to coated shaped articles comprising at least one shaped article comprising foamed beads comprising at least one polyurethane (A) and at least one coating comprising at least one polyurethane (B), wherein polyurethane (A) and polyurethane (B) are each constructed from at least one polyol and at least one polyisocyanate and wherein not less than 50 wt % of the polyol component used for constructing polyurethane (A) and polyurethane (B) is identical and not less than 50 wt % of the at least one polyisocyanate component used for constructing polyurethane (A) and polyurethane (B) is identical. The present invention further relates to processes for producing the coated shaped articles of the present invention and also to the method of using the coated shaped articles of the present invention for various applications.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for foaming thermoplastic elastomers comprising a blowing agent, where the elastomer is heated by means of electromagnetic radiation to such an extent that the elastomer at least partly melts and foams to give a foam, wherein the frequency of the electromagnetic radiation is in the range from 0.01 GHz to 300 GHz. Abstract: A process for producing a rigid polymer foam comprises reacting components A to C in the presence of component D or an isocyanate-functional prepolymer of components A and B with component C in the presence of component D, the total amount of which is 100 wt %, (A) 35 to 65 wt % of at least one polyisocyanate component A, (B) 5 to 50 wt % of at least one polyol component B, (C) 1 to 59 wt % of at least one polycarboxylic acid component C, and (D) 0.01 to 3 wt % of at least one Lewis base component D, wherein the reaction takes place with release of carbon dioxide.

Abstract: A process for coating particles of an expanded thermoplastic elastomer involves a1) bringing the particles into contact with a water-based binder, resulting in at least partly coated particles, and a2) drying the coated particles. A process for the preparation of a shaped body involves b) coating the particles of the expanded thermoplastic elastomer, wherein before a2) the particles are brought into the shape of the shaped body, or wherein after a2) the particles are brought into the shape of the shaped body and contacted with a solvent, preferably a water-based solvent, or by subjecting the particles to heat. A shaped body is obtainable by such processes. A water-based binder is useful for the preparation of a shaped body, wherein the shaped body is formed by particles of an expanded thermoplastic elastomer and wherein the particles are at least partly coated with the water-based binder.

Abstract: A composite material contains a nonwoven layer (i) which contains fibers formed from a first thermoplastic elastomer having meshes with a mesh size in the range from 10 to 100 μm, and a membrane layer (ii) which contains a second thermoplastic elastomer and having a layer thickness of less than 30 μm. The membrane is either pore-free (ii.1) or is porous and has pores with an average pore diameter of less than 2000 nm (ii.2). The membrane (ii) is at least partially in direct contact with the fibers of the nonwoven layer (i) and covers the mesh openings in the nonwoven layer (i) at least partially. The fibers of the first nonwoven layer (i) and the membrane (ii) in the contact area are at least partly joined to one another in an interlocking manner.
