Abstract:
A dynamic mask adapted to an illumination system is provided. The illumination system includes at least one light source capable of emitting an illumination beam. The dynamic mask includes a board disposed in a transmission path of the illumination beam for adjusting a luminous flux of the illumination beam. The board has at least one strip-shaped opening. The strip-shaped opening has a first end and a second end opposite to the first end. The strip-shaped opening is mirror-symmetric with respect to a symmetrical axis, and the symmetrical axis is a straight line extending from the first end to the second end. A width of the strip-shaped opening increases from the first end to the second end, and the board is capable of moving along a direction parallel to the symmetrical axis. An illumination system using the dynamic mask is also provided.

A brightness control apparatus applied to an illuminating system of a projector includes a plate and a slot portion. The slot portion is formed in the plate for a light beam of the illuminating system passing through. The slot portion has two opposite edges located at two sides of an arc locus. The center of the arc locus is a rotating center of the plate. The distance between the two edges of the slot portion is changed with the arc locus. The arc locus has a start point and an arbitrary point which are relative to the center of the arc locus, so as to form a central angle. The mathematics relationship between the distance of the two edges at the arbitrary point and the central angle is a polynomial function. The degree of the term with the highest degree is equal to or more than six.

A photopolymerizable liquid crystal mixture includes a first photopolymerizable monomer, a second photopolymerizable monomer, a first photoinitiator, a second photoinitiator, and a liquid crystal material. A manufacturing method of photopolymerizable liquid crystal includes the following steps. A first light source is provided to irradiate the photopolymerizable liquid crystal mixture without providing a driving voltage, for inducing photopolymerization of the first photoinitiator and the first photopolymerizable monomer. A second light source is provided to irradiate the photopolymerizable liquid crystal mixture without providing a driving voltage, for inducing photopolymerization of the second photoinitiator and the second photopolymerizable monomer and aligning the liquid crystal material along a direction.

A frame rate adjuster is utilized for adjusting a frame rate of a display according to the brightness of a frame. The frame adjuster comprises a frame counting circuit, a brightness-counting circuit, a brightness-determining circuit, and a frame rate selecting circuit. The frame counting circuit is utilized for determining if gray-level data of the frame are all transmitted and accordingly generating a frame trigger signal. The brightness counting circuit is utilized for generating a plurality of brightness-counting numbers according to the gray-level data of the brightness of the frame. The brightness-determining circuit is utilized for outputting a brightness-determining signal according to the frame trigger signal and the plurality of the brightness-counting numbers. The frame rate selecting circuit is utilized for selecting a reference frame rate among a plurality of reference frame rates so as to adjust the frame rate of the display.

A switching module capable of adjusting a visual angle is disclosed. The switching module includes an edge-type optical substrate, a light source disposed by a side of the edge-type optical substrate, and an optical modulating component disposed between the light source and the edge-type optical substrate. The edge-type optical substrate has an emitting surface. The light source includes a plurality of light units. Each light unit can emit a beam to the edge-type optical substrate according to a predetermined angle. The optical modulating component can modulate divergence of the beam emitted from the light unit, so that the beam can be guided out of the edge-type optical substrate via the emitting surface according to the predetermined angle.

A device of gathering statistics of the gray distribution of an image and a method thereof are provided. The device includes a comparing unit, a count unit, a memory unit, and a data allotment unit. The comparing unit determines gray information of a plurality of gray data of the input image, and output a respective count signal accordingly. The count unit includes a plurality of counters. Each counter corresponding to predetermined gray information has a count value. The counters update the count values according to the respective count signals. When the count value exceeds a predetermined value, the count unit outputs a pulse signal corresponding to the predetermined gray information. The data allotment unit updates the statistics of the gray distribution of the image stored in the memory unit according to the pulse signal. The present invention reduces the number of the registers the counters require and decreases hardware costs.

An image compression/decompression device and a method thereof are provided. In the method, a first array is generated according to an input image array, and further, a second array is generated by performing an edge detection algorithm according to the input image array. Besides, a plurality of elements of a third array is generated according to the first array. Furthermore, a group of elements of the third array is selected according to the second array. In addition, an average value of the group of elements is computed to obtain an element of an output image array. Each element of the input image array and the third array is M bits, and each element of the first array is N bits, wherein M and N are natural numbers, and M is larger than N. Thereby, the quality of a decompressed image is improved.
