Abstract: An apparatus includes a coupling portion configured to be releasably coupled to an abutment affixed to a recipient's body. The coupling portion includes a substantially cylindrically symmetric body portion extending along a symmetry axis, the body portion including an outer body surface having a recess extending around the symmetry axis. The coupling portion further includes a resilient member in the recess and extending around the symmetry axis. The resilient member extends outwardly past the outer body surface and is configured to contact an inner abutment surface of the abutment. The resilient member is configured to undergo compression by the inner abutment surface and an inner surface of the recess upon being releasably coupled to the abutment. The compression has a component substantially perpendicular to the symmetry axis.

Abstract: Presented herein are non-surgical or superficial wearable bands for facilitating hearing. Abstract: An external portion of an auditory prosthesis includes an external magnet that interacts with an implanted magnet to hold the external portion against the skin of a recipient. A magnetic component can be disposed proximate either or both of the external magnet or implanted magnet to channel the magnetic field associated therewith. The magnetic component can be moved relative to its associated magnet so as to adjust the magnetic field, and thus, the retention force between the magnets.

Abstract: Presented herein is a bone fixture for a medical prosthesis. The bone fixture includes a self-drilling threaded body that is configured to be inserted into a recipient's bone. The threaded body includes a bone removal mechanism configured to cut away parts of the bone that are in the path of the threaded body and to remove portions of the cut parts of the bone, sometimes referred to herein as bone fragments, from the hole. The bone fixture also comprises a coupling section that is attached to a proximal end of the threaded body. The coupling section is configured to be positioned external to the recipient's bone and includes a connector interface that is entirely/completely proximal to the threaded body.
