Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a monitor device for an ostomy system. The monitor device comprises: a processor, memory; and a first interface connected to the processor and the memory. The first interface comprises a plurality of terminals and a data collector. The plurality of terminals includes a first terminal that forms an electrical connection with a first electrode of an ostomy appliance of the ostomy system and a second terminal that forms an electrical connection with a second electrode of the ostomy appliance. The data collector is coupled to the first terminal and the second terminal and comprises a data collection controller configured to collect data from the plurality of terminals according to a primary data collection scheme and collect data from the plurality of terminals according to a secondary data collection scheme. The primary data collection scheme is different from the secondary data collection scheme.

Abstract: A method for operating an accessory device to capture calibration data. The method can include capturing an image of a portion of a user's body that includes the user's stoma and at least two reference locations, and storing distance scale information representative of a distance between the two reference locations. The method further includes processing the captured image, including: identifying the reference locations, identifying the stoma, and generating calibration data representative of one or more stoma parameters as a function of the identified reference locations, identified stoma and the distance scale information. The calibration data can be stored.

Abstract: A system for preserving functionality of a skin-engageable element for attachment to a skin portion of a user during storage including a skin-engageable element and a protective element having discrete portions projecting therefrom. The discrete portions are adapted to engage with through-going passages in an adhesive layer of the skin-engageable element, and ensure that the passages are open and passable when the protective element is removed before use of the skin-engageable element. A protective element attachable to a proximal adhesive side of a skin-engageable element for attachment to a skin portion of a user is also disclosed.

Abstract: A base plate of an ostomy appliance includes a first adhesive layer and a masking element. The first adhesive layer includes a stomal opening with a center point and a proximal surface configured to be attached to a skin surface of a user. The masking element is arranged on a distal surface of the first adhesive layer and is more insulative than the first adhesive layer. A plurality of electrodes is arranged on the distal surface of the first adhesive layer, where each electrode includes a sensing part and a conductor part. The masking element is arranged between the conductor part of each electrode and the first adhesive layer. The electrodes are formed on a proximal surface of a support layer.

Abstract: A method for operating an accessory device to guide the placement of an ostomy appliance on a user having a stoma. The method can include capturing an image or a sequence of images of the user applying the ostomy appliance to the user's body, processing the captured image or sequence of images, including: identifying a location of the stoma in one or more of the captured image or sequence of images, identifying a location of the ostomy appliance in one or more of the captured image or sequence of images, and generating location indicia representative of the location of the ostomy appliance with respect to the stoma in one or more of the captured image or sequence of images. A visual display including the location indicia associated with one or more of the captured image or sequence of images can be provided.
