Abstract: Orthogonal DMRS ports with resource block reuse in a single cell is provided. ABS comprises: a BBE and RUs. The BS transmits user data to each of a plurality of UEs on a PDSCH using a PRB allocation for the cell. The PRB and cell are the same for all UEs. The PRB comprises DMRS symbols. The BS transmits user data to each UE on the PDSCH using a respective non-intersecting subset of the RUs. No RU transmits user data on the PDSCH using the PRB to more than one UE. The BBE: determines non-intersecting sets of DMRS ports; assigns one set to each UE; and causes the BS to transmit UE-specific DMRS to UE on the DMRS ports in the set assigned to that UE using only a respective non-intersecting subset of RUs used for transmitting user data to that UE on the PDSCH using the PRB.

Abstract: One embodiment is directed wirelessly communicating with user equipment (UE) operating using discontinuous reception (DRX). When a rank for the UE has changed is determined and, in response when that happens, if an ON duration for a current DRX cycle for the UE will elapse during a current subframe is determined. In response to making such determination about the ON duration, a dummy assignment of resource blocks on a downlink shared channel is sent to the UE. The UE extends the ON duration of the current DRX cycle in response to the dummy assignment. If a channel quality indication (CQI) report has been made by the UE is determined and, in response thereto, a modulation and coding scheme (MCS) used for communicating with the UE is updated based on the reported rank and reported CQI. The dummy assignment is not made for communicating actual data to the UE.

Abstract: Systems and methods for using a radio intelligent controller with a distributed antenna system and fronthaul multiplexer/fronthaul gateway (FHM/FHGW) are provided. In one example, a method for using a radio intelligent controller with a DAS includes receiving fronthaul information via an E2 interface from one or more nodes of the DAS included in a system. The method further includes automatically generating one or more operational parameters for one or more components of the system that includes the DAS based on the fronthaul information received via an E2 interface from the one or more nodes of the DAS. The method further includes adjusting operation of one or more components of the system that includes the DAS based on the one or more automatically generated operational parameters for the one or more components of the system that includes the DAS.

Abstract: A system for channel access in Long Term Evolution (LTE) License-Assisted Access (LAA) is disclosed. The system includes a controller and a plurality of radio points. A level one radio point transmits a first reservation signal in response to a first backoff counter reaching zero. The first reservation signal indicates that the level one radio point will begin a first transmission of a first duration starting in a next subframe. A candidate level two radio point receives the first reservation signal and determines whether the candidate level two radio point received the first reservation signal with a signal to interference noise ratio (SINR) that exceeds a reservation detection threshold for the candidate level two radio point.

Abstract: One embodiment is directed to a system to provide wireless service to user equipment. The system comprising a controller communicatively coupled to a core network and a plurality of radio points to transmit and receive radio frequency signals to and from the user equipment. Each of the radio points is associated with at least one antenna and is located remote from the controller. The plurality of radio points is communicatively coupled to the controller. The controller comprises at least one baseband modem to perform Layer-3, Layer-2, and Layer-1 processing for the air interface. The controller is configured to automatically control transmit power for the radio points based on operational measurements (OMs) for each radio point, wherein the OMs are based on radio resource control (RRC) messages received at the controller. In some implementations, the radio points are configured to perform at least some Layer-1 processing for the air interface.
