    Abstract: Systems and methods for management controller firmware updates for an Information Handling System (“IHS”) component without a direct out-of-band management channel are described. In an illustrative, non-limiting embodiment, an IHS may include a host system, a management controller (“MC”) configured to provide out-of-band management of the IHS, and a network interface controller (“NIC”) coupled to the MC, where the NIC comprises a baseboard management controller (“BMC”) coupled to a processing unit, where the NIC BMC does not have a direct out-of-band management channel, or the NIC BMC does have a direct out-of-band management channel but the channel is unavailable, and where the MC is configured to: obtain a firmware update image usable by the NIC BMC; and transmit the firmware update image to the processing unit, wherein the processing unit is configured to transmit the firmware update image to the NIC BMC.

    Abstract: An information handling system detects installation of a hardware device that includes software, and transmits a request for a secure boot certificate associated with a hardware identifier of the hardware device and a software version of the software to a remote secure boot service. The secure boot service which maintains a centralized secure boot certificate store queries for the secure boot certificate based on the request and transmits the secure boot certificate to the information handling system. The secure boot service also performs a refinement mapping of the secure boot certificates in the store. Subsequent to receiving the secure boot certificate, the system provisions the secure boot certificate.

    Abstract: A key management system includes a managed system coupled to a management system through a network. The managed system includes managed device locking subsystem(s) coupled to a managed device and a key storage. The managed device locking subsystem(s) retrieve, through the network from the management system, a managed device locking key that is configured to unlock the managed device. The managed device locking subsystem(s) then encrypt the managed device locking key to provide an encrypted managed device locking key, and store the encrypted managed device locking key in the key storage. Subsequent to storing the encrypted managed device locking key, the managed device locking subsystem(s) retrieve the encrypted managed device locking key from the key storage, and decrypt the encrypted managed device locking key to provide a decrypted managed device locking key. The managed device locking subsystem(s) then use the decrypted managed device locking key to unlock the managed device.

    Abstract: On power-up, self-encrypting drives (SEDs, 150) are unlocked one after another in an order based on the SEDs' unlocking priorities. In determining the priorities, one or more of the following factors are taken into account: (1) the content stored on the SEDs; the SEDs storing the OS are given higher priorities; (2) the SEDs' access history on previous power-ups: if a SED was accessed earlier than other SEDs, then this SED is given a higher priority; (3) whether there is an access request pending for a SED. Such prioritization allows the system to reach full functionality faster on power-ups. Other features are also provided.

    Abstract: A secondary OS device unlocking system includes a key management system and a server device. The server device includes a storage device storing primary OS information, a remote access controller device, and a BIOS. During server device initialization operations, the BIOS sends the remote access controller device a request to unlock a storage device using a storage device locking key stored in the key management system. In response to the storage device not being unlocked, the BIOS retrieves secondary OS information and boots using the secondary OS information to provide the secondary OS that retrieves the storage device locking key and uses it to unlock the storage device, and then performs a reboot operation. The BIOS then retrieves the primary OS information from the unlocked storage device, and boots using the primary OS information to provide a primary OS.

    Abstract: Dynamic distribution of memory, including identifying memory modules; creating a system physical address (SPA) of the memory modules; assigning, for each virtual machine (VM), a respective section of the SPA to the VM; calculating, for each VM, portions of the respective section of the SPA for the VM that is being used by the VM and that is not being used by the VM; identifying a physical failure of a particular memory module; in response to identifying the physical failure: identifying a particular VM assigned to the section of the SPA associated with the particular memory module that has physically failed; accumulating, for each other VM, the unused portions of the respective SPA for the VM; marking, for each other VM, the unused portion of the SPA for the VM as read-only for the VM; and reassigning a portion of the unused portions of the SPA to the particular VM.
