Abstract: There is provided a data input device and a data input method. The data input device including: a sense unit provided by forming a predetermined sense region at a side of a case of an electronic apparatus terminal, for generating a first direction input signal by sensing a horizontal pressure in a predetermined radial direction of the finger put on a reference position within the sense region, and for generating a second direction input signal by sensing a vertical pressure leaned in a predetermined direction while the finger is put on the reference position; and a controller for determining a horizontal pressure direction or a vertical pressure position of the finger from the first direction input signal and the second direction input signal, and for extracting data assigned to a corresponding radial direction and a pressure position to input.

Abstract: There is provided a data input device. The data input device comprises a plurality of sensing units having sensors, a plurality of direction indicating positions and direction inputs in an input radius spaced and arranged from a center position in a radial direction in a uniform range in one input unit, and a controller so that data are input by continuously performing at least two direction inputs. Abstract: A character input device and its method are disclosed. Abstract: A character input device includes an input unit for enabling direction movement input and direction pressing input; a movement input detector for detecting the direction movement input; a pressing input detector for detecting the direction pressing input; and a controller for extracting characters from a memory for execution, the characters corresponding to a result of detection performed by the movement input detector and the pressing input detector. The character input device enables its user to input desired characters accurately while minimizing the space necessary for character input. In addition, direction movement input and direction pressing input can be combined to input at least two phonemes through a single continuous operation, for rapid character input. Furthermore, the minimized input space requirement facilitates compactness and slimness of the product.
