Abstract:
A connector assembly for mounting a chip module to a printed circuit board (PCB) includes: a seating mechanism including a socket connector, a metallic seat frame, and a metallic load plate; a back plate; and plural fasteners extending through the seating mechanism, the PCB, and the back plate to fasten the seating mechanism and the back plate on two opposite sides of the PCB, wherein the back plate has a curved inner region and a flat outer region and the fasteners extend through the flat outer region of the back plate.
Abstract:
An electrical connector includes a terminal module unit with contacts and grounding plates thereof. The terminal module includes an insulative base and an insulative mating tongue forwardly extending therefrom. The mating tongue forms opposite mating surfaces. The contacts includes the contacting sections on the mating surfaces and the connecting legs. The mating tongue includes a root section adjacent to the base. The grounding plates unit covers the root section in an embedded manner. The grounding plate includes a planar body exposed upon the mating surface, and a pair of fixing side arms extending from two opposite ends of the planar body and equipped with corresponding latching hooks to secure to the semi-finished root section before the final insert-molding process is applied.
Abstract:
A receptacle includes an insulating housing including a base and a mating tongue, upper contacts and lower contacts, a metallic shell and a shielding plate. The contacts include plate contacting sections exposed upon the mating tongue. The shielding plate is disposed in the mating tongue and the base and isolated from the upper and lower contacts. The metallic shell is retained on the base and surrounding the mating tongue to define a mating port which is inserted with a plug connector in either of two insertion orientations. The front sides of the shielding plate is exposed to the front side of the mating tongue and the lateral sides of the shielding plates is exposed to the corresponding lateral sides of the mating tongue for protection under an improper angular mating of the plug connector.
Abstract:
An electrical connector includes an insulative housing defining a forwardly extending mating tongue, a plurality of contacts with contacting sections exposed upon the mating tongue and a metallic shield enclosing the insulative housing to define a mating cavity. A metallic shielding plate is embedded within the mating tongue and forms a pair of locking notches in two opposite lateral sides. The mating tongue further includes in two opposite lateral sides a pair of recesses aligned with and intimately located inside of the pair of locking notches, respectively, in the transverse direction. The housing and the corresponding contacts commonly form the terminal module which is composed of an upper terminal module, a lower terminal module commonly sandwiching a shielding plate module therebetween in the vertical direction. The metallic shield optionally defines a clip structure by folding an extension on a rear lower edge thereof.
Abstract:
A plug connector includes an insulative housing with mating slot, contacts disposed in the housing by two sides of the mating slot, and a pair of side arms located by two opposite ends of the mating slot in a horizontal transverse direction. a receptacle connector includes an insulative housing defining a horizontal mating tongue; contacts disposed in the housing with contacting sections exposed upon two opposite surfaces of the mating tongue; and a monolithic horizontal metallic shielding plate disposed and extending substantially fully the mating tongue. The shielding plate defines side protruding edge sections exposed outside of corresponding side edges of the mating tongue and a notch structure on each side protruding edge section, the pair of side arms each defines a hook structure to engagement with the notch structure.

Abstract:
An electrical connector assembly includes a receptacle connector and a flippable pug connector for connecting with a cable. The receptacle connector includes a terminal module assembly defining a mating tongue loading with two rows of contacts on opposing surface of the mating tongue and a metallic shell retained on the terminal module assembly and enclosing the mating tongue, thereby defining a mating cavity between the metallic shell and the mating tongue. The plug connector includes an insulating housing defining a center slot with side walls and two rows of contacts on the side walls and a metallic shell attached to an outer periphery of the insulating housing. The mating cavity of the receptacle connector is configured to be symmetrical to a horizontal center line without orientation limits so as to allow the plug connector to be mated in two opposite orientations, and the center slot receives the mating tongue.
