Abstract: A method for manufacturing a display device includes the steps of preparing a spacer that includes a first alignment mark, forming a notch on a back reinforcing film and cutting the back reinforcing film in a size corresponding to a size of a first bottom surface, disposing the back reinforcing film on a back surface side of a display area, disposing the spacer on a back surface side of a flexible substrate, and bending a bent area so as to conform to a shape of the spacer and disposing a terminal area on a back surface side of the spacer. In the step of disposing the spacer, viewed from the back surface side of the flexible substrate, the spacer is positioned on the back reinforcing film based on a position of the notch and a position of the first alignment mark.

Abstract: A method for manufacturing a display device includes preparing a flexible substrate that includes an alignment mark in a frame area, preparing a spacer that includes a notch or a hole penetrating from a back surface side to a display surface side of the spacer, disposing the spacer on a back surface side of the flexible substrate, and bending the bent area of the flexible substrate to conform to a shape of the spacer and disposing the terminal area of the flexible substrate on the back surface side of the spacer. In the step of disposing the spacer, the alignment mark is read through the notch or the hole from the back surface side of the flexible substrate so as to position the spacer on the flexible substrate.

Abstract: A flexible display includes a display region and a peripheral region. A first reinforcement film is located on the display region of the flexible display and a second reinforcement film is located on the peripheral region of the flexible display. A semiconductor circuit chip is located on the peripheral region and a flexible board is located on the peripheral region. A side end portion of the first reinforcement film is in contact with a first side end portion of the second reinforcement film and a second side end portion of the second reinforcement film is in contact with one side of the semiconductor circuit chip. A third side end portion of the second reinforcement film is in contact with another side of the semiconductor circuit chip and the second reinforcement film is continuously formed from the first side end portion to the second side end portion.

Abstract: A flexible display is bent in an intermediate region such that a first region and a second region overlap each other. A spacer is disposed inside a bend of the flexible display. The spacer includes a front-side region overlapping the first region, a back-side region overlapping the second region, and a guide region overlapping the intermediate region and regulating the bend. The spacer includes, in the front-side region, a first step and a first bottom surface recessed below the guide region. The spacer includes, in the back-side region, a second step and a second bottom surface recessed below the guide region. An interval between a second reinforcing film and a second raised surface located at the second step is larger than an interval between a first reinforcing film and a first raised surface located at the first step.

The end portion of the film may have a taper region. A thickness of the taper region increases with distance from the terminal region in a cross-sectional view.
