Abstract: An exercise device includes a frame and a crank assembly. A pair of foot links each has a forward end, a rearward end, and a mid-portion. Each foot link has a crank attachment at the forward end that is connected the crank assembly. A foot receiving area is defined at the rearward end of each foot link. Each foot receiving area is longitudinally fixed with respect to the respective foot link and the mid portion of each foot link has a defined support location. The frame supports the support locations of the support links at a generally constant vertical height while allowing horizontal motion relative to the frame. The rearward length of the foot links is at least 1.5 times the forward length such that the foot receiving areas move in a path of travel having more vertical travel than horizontal travel.

Abstract: An elliptical exercise device has a frame and guide link pivotally attached thereto. A foot support link is pivotally connected to a lower attachment point of each guide link so that when the guide links pivot relative to the frame, foot receiving areas of the foot support links move in a path of travel having a horizontal component of motion. Vertical control tracks are pivotally connected to the frame and support the foot support links. A vertical drive is coupled to the forward portion of the frame and vertical control elements connect the vertical drive to the vertical control tracks. A horizontal drive and horizontal control links control pivoting of the guide links.

Abstract: An elliptical exercise device has guide links pivotally attached to a frame and foot support links pivotally attached to the guide links. Vertical control links couple a cam drive to forward ends of the foot support links such that rotation of the cam drive moves foot receiving areas vertically. Horizontal control links couple a crank system to the guide links such that rotation of the crank system pivots the guide links and moves the foot receiving areas horizontally. The vertical and horizontal movement is generally out of phase to move the foot receiving areas in an elliptical path.

Abstract: According to the invention, the roof rail mounted track for a shoulder belt carriage extends down along the windshield pillar. A belt supporting hook is pivotally mounted on the body at the juncture between the roof rail and the windshield pillar and has a spring means acting to urge the hook to a normal position extending into the path of movement of the carriage along the track. The spring yields upon engagement of the carriage with the hook to temporarily pivot the hook away from the belt to permit movement of the carriage past the hook. Then, the spring returns the hook into the path of movement so that the hook supports the belt at the juncture of the roof rail and the windshield pillar during the further forward and downward movement of the carriage along the track. In addition, a belt support is fixedly mounted on the pillar and surrounds the track in spaced apart relation therefrom to permit the carriage to move through the support during such forward movement thereof so that the shoulder belt is deflected by the belt loop to lift the lap belt and the shoulder belt higher and higher while the carriage proceeds forwardly and downwardly along the pillar.

Abstract: A compound bow with primary and secondary pulleys at the distal ends of the flexible limbs designed to reduce the draw force at the end of the draw. Pulley shape is designed to alter the force-draw curve to provide a flat plateau at the maximum draw which drops off again to the holding draw force. Draw length is controlled by curvature contour at segments of the secondary cable pulleys to achieve short, medium or long draw lengths with selective pulley segments which can be attached to a base primary pulley. A draw string pulley has a first perimetric section which is circular and a second connecting curved perimetric section which has a progressively decreasing radii from each end to the center with radii less than that of the first section. In some embodiments, three or four zones are provided. These zones can be created with add-on plates secured to a basic pulley.

Abstract: A passive three-point lap and shoulder belt system has the outboard ends of the lap and shoulder belts mounted on the vehicle body door respectively adjacent the hip and shoulder of the occupant. A retractor mounted on the body generally adjacent the inboard hip of the occupant winds a control belt which is connected with the lap and shoulder belts at the juncture of their inboard ends to establish the lap and shoulder belts in their occupant restraining positions when the door is closed. A door mounted belt stiffener is encased within the lap belt and includes a plurality of stacked abutting elements normally hingedly movable relative one another to allow the lap belt to fall limp across the occupant lap. The elements are connected by one or more tension cables which are tensioned upon opening movement of the door to compress and erect the abutting elements into a stiff column which lifts the lap belt as well as the shoulder and control belts further upwardly and forwardly of their respective stowed positions normally obtained by the swing geometry of the open door. Mechanism for tensioning the tension cables includes a door mounted pulley or like rotary member having the tension cables attached at a point eccentric from the axis of rotation. A control cable is wound upon the pulley and attached to the door hinge pillar of the body so that opening movement of the door rotates the pulley in the direction to tension the tension cables.
