    Abstract: The invention refers to a lighting device comprising at least one light emitting diode (LED). The object to provide a lighting device that is capable of providing a light pattern for illuminating an object in 3D imaging, wherein the lighting device is simple and cost-effective to manufacture, while the lighting device may in addition have a very small form factor, is solved in with a lighting device comprising: at least one LED for emitting light towards a light-emitting side; a first grating with a regular pitch having light-blocking sections and light-permeable sections; wherein the first grating is arranged on the light-emitting side to block the passage of light at the light-blocking sections, such that the light passing the light-permeable sections is capable to illuminate an object with a line pattern. The invention further corresponds to a method for producing a lighting device and the use of a lighting device.

    Abstract: A biometric identification system and a method for biometric authentication are described. A biometric authentication system includes at least one light source comprising at least one of a vertical surface emitting laser (VCSEL) or a VCSEL array configured to provide an illumination beam when the biometric authentication system is turned on. The system also includes an optical element configured to broaden the illumination beam and direct the illumination beam towards the portion of the object so as to generate at least one corresponding image response. The system also includes an image sensing unit configured to receive the at least one corresponding image response, capture a speckle pattern in the image response and form at least one of a computer readable image or data representing a speckle contrast in the speckle pattern.

    Abstract: A lighting module and a lighting assembly provide high irradiance at long working distances. The lighting module includes at least two rows of multiple LEDs separated from each other by an intermediate area between the rows and one integral optical element on top of the at least two rows of multiple LEDs. The one integral optical element includes one collimator lens portion per row of LEDs extending along the row of LEDs. The collimator lens portions of different rows are merged together above the intermediate area. The collimator lens portions, seen in a direction perpendicular to the at least two rows, provide an off-axis focus for the one collimator lens portion, and focus light emitted from the at least two rows of multiple LEDs in a focus line extending parallel to the rows of LEDs at a focus distance above the optical element.
