Abstract:
A network management system which is capable of easily identifying devices, and enhancing the operability of a device management application used by a manager. The network management system includes devices, and a server connected to the devices via a network. The server is configured to be capable of communicating with the devices by SNMPv1, SNMPv3 and SLP. When SNMPv1 can be used for a device, the server acquires device information from the device by SNMPv1. When SNMPv1 cannot be used but SNMPv3 can be used for a device, and an SNMPv3 password is registered, the server acquires device information from the device by SNMPv3. When SNMPv1 cannot be used but SNMPv3 can be used for a device, and a SNMPv3 password is not registered, the server acquires device information from the device by SLP.
Abstract:
A method for managing a job sent from an information processing apparatus to a network device to process the job. The method includes managing job information representing status of the job processing which changes in a time series manner, deleting the job information after lapse of a predetermined time after completing the job processing by the network device, acquiring the managed job information, recognizing whether or not the job information has already been deleted, and recognizing that the job processing is completed responsive to one of recognizing that the job information has already been deleted and acquiring the job information that the job processing is completed.
Abstract:
A network device includes a communicator which communicate with an information processing apparatus on a network by using a first communication protocol requiring authentication and a second communication protocol requiring no authentication, a setting unit which sets the operation mode of the communicator so as to communicate with an object necessary for Plug and Play by using the second communication protocol and communicate with an object other than the object necessary for Plug and Play by using the first communication protocol, and a determination unit which determines, using identification information to identify configuration information contained in information received from the information processing apparatus, whether the configuration information is necessary for the Plug and Play.
Abstract:
Disclosed are a network device management system and method of controlling the same for simplifying the operation of a client application and making it possible to reduce traffic in process-to-process communication. By way of inter-process communication, a client apparatus requests a server apparatus for log information relating to a device connected on a network. Using a prescribed protocol, the server apparatus acquires the device-related log information and transmits this information to the client apparatus by inter-process communication. The client apparatus stores the device-related log information acquired from the server apparatus and, based upon newly acquired log information, changes a display of device-related log information and print job status information.
Abstract:
A plasma reactor is provided which does not require a high power supply voltage and can form a plasma with a necessary and sufficient average current density over the whole region between a pair of electrodes to efficiently modify a gas flowing between the electrodes. The plasma reactor comprises first and second electrodes positioned to face each other, a dielectric material placed between the two electrodes and an electrical power supply for applying an alternating or pulsed current to the two electrodes and generating a plasma in the gas passing through the gap between the two electrodes to thereby modify the gas. By setting the average current density Ird of the plasma generated in the gap so that it satisfies the formula 10−4 A/cm2≦Ird≦10−1 A/cm2, a concentrated discharge and a barrier discharge are simultaneously generated, thus forming a plasma having a sufficient average current density Ird for the efficient modification of the gas over the whole region of the gap.

Abstract:
There is provided a control system for an internal combustion engine, which is capable of matching an output torque of the engine with a demanded torque excellently when the combustion mode is switched, thereby enhancing drivability. A demanded fuel amount and a demanded torque of the engine are calculated according to detected operating conditions of the engine. A combustion mode is determined to be either the stratified combustion mode or the homogeneous combustion mode according to the demanded torque. A pre-switching demanded fuel injection time period and a pre-switching demanded torque are stored. When the combustion mode is switched, a switching-time demanded fuel amount (limit value) is calculated according to the stored pre-switching demanded fuel injection time period and pre-switching demanded torque, the current demanded torque, and an estimated combustion efficiency parameter.

Abstract:
An information processing apparatus which make it possible to search from an information processing apparatus, for an IPv6-compatible image processing apparatus which has an IPv6 network address designated by the information processing apparatus. A device management application determines search conditions, and specifies information associated with a designated network. Further, the device management application generates a IPv6 multicast address using the thus specified information, transmits a search message designating the IPv6 multicast address, and receives a response transmitted from an image processing apparatus associated with the IPv6 multicast address.
Abstract:
A circuit for driving an electromagnetic solenoid valve, used as a fuel injector in an internal combustion engine, having a needle valve biased in a closing direction by a spring and a solenoid which moves the needle valve in an opening direction when energized to inject fuel into a cylinder of the engine. The circuit includes a first booster which boosts battery voltage to a first voltage to charge a capacitor. The charged voltage is applied to the solenoid for a time period to cause the needle valve to move in the opening direction. The circuit includes a second booster which boosts the battery voltage to a second voltage, less than the first voltage, to be supplied to the solenoid to maintain the first current, enabling the period of large current application to be freely determined to ensure reliable valve operation, whereby the fuel injection can be reliably effected. After the time period has expired, the voltage supply is discontinued, enabling improvement of the valve linearity characteristics, while conserving the energy stored in the battery power source.
Abstract:
A network device control unit and method are provided in which, not all MIB objects under the control of the network management software are simultaneously acquired during startup of the network management software so the almost simultaneous flow of a large volume of SNMP packets in the LAN will not occur and along with a simultaneous reduction in the load on communications lines, the load on devices such as the printer and network board processing their SNMP packets will also become small. To accomplish this, windows allocated to individual network peripheral devices on a one to one basis and controlling the network device are utilized as device windows, and information to be displayed on the initial screen of the device window is acquired as the initial sheet and displayed. Device windows also acquire and display different sheet information on the device window when determined an entry has been made by the user requesting display of a different type of sheet information.
