Abstract: A lighting system including a set of lighting devices for lighting an environment that may be controlled by a method. The method may include receiving, from one or more image sensors (e.g. a RGB-D camera—W), an image signal including a sequence of images of the environment under different conditions of illumination and light reflection. The method may further include processing the image signal to provide a light source identification signal representative of light sources affecting the environment, and controlling the lighting devices as a function of the light source identification signal, and, possibly, of human occupancy and activity.

Abstract: A method for optimizing the area coverage of a wireless network may include a lamp to perform this method. The lamp may have an input for connecting a network, a power supply unit for supplying all components of the lamp with an electric power taken from the input, a control unit for controlling the components of the lamp, at least one light source from the power supply unit and controlled by the control unit, and a network access point for providing at least one wireless network. The lamp may include at least one antenna associated with the network access point. The light source and antenna may be arranged and designed such that the radiation characteristics of the light are congruent with the radiation characteristics of the antenna of the wireless network.

Abstract: A method for controlling at least one wireless network access point in a building may include detecting whether a wireless communication device is connected to at least one wireless network access point and/or whether a person is present using a group of presence detectors. An illumination system may include at least one wireless network point and/or the group of presence detectors. An activated network access point may remain activated when the wireless network access point is connected to a wireless communication device and/or when a person is present. A network access point may be automatically deactivated when the wireless network access point is not connected to a wireless communication device and/or when a person is not present. A deactivated network access point may be automatically reactivated when the wireless network access point is connected to a wireless communication device and/or when a person is present. Combinations thereof are also possible.

Abstract: The presence of a stationary object is to be reliably recognized. Thereto, a presence detection device for detecting a presence of an object in its environment is provided, which comprises a movement detection unit for detecting an initial movement of the object in the environment of the presence detection device and for outputting a movement signal depending on the detection as well as a control unit for generating an activation signal depending on the movement signal. Moreover, the presence detection device comprises a camera, which can be activated by the activation signal, for obtaining a video signal of the environment of the presence detection device and an evaluation unit for generating a presence signal relating to the presence of the object by evaluating the video signal.

Abstract: An image signal indicative of the head pose of a person in a scene, as provided by a camera may be processed by estimating, as a function of the image signal received by the image sensor, the head pose of the person. A view frustum of the person may be generated from the estimated head pose. A visual frustum of attention or VFOA of the person may be generated from the view frustum. From the visual frustum, a predicted movement trajectory of the person or an estimated scene attention map as a function of the visual frustum of attention, preferably by identifying in the attention map at least one object to be controlled may be generated.

Abstract: A method for setting up a lighting system comprising at least two luminaires, which are part of a network and each having a unique network address, wherein each luminaire has at least one sensor and one actuator, characterized by the steps of measuring the relative distance between respectively two luminaires by reading at least one sensor of the luminaire while simultaneously activating at least one actuator of the other luminaire, producing at least one data record, wherein each data record contains the network address of both luminaires and the relative distance of the luminaires from one another, and merging the data records to form a geo-localized network list and comparing the network list to a floorplan underlying the lighting system to determine the physical location of each luminaire.

Abstract: A method for evaluating positioning parameters in a defined area, wherein the defined area is affected by at least three stationary access beam points and over which a grid pattern is laid with at least two grids, each grid having an anchor. An initial vector of positioning parameters is assigned to each anchor and a plurality of RSSI measurements are captured within the defined area by receiving signals from the at least three stationary access beam points. The plurality of RSSI measurement are clustered in a plurality of subsets, wherein the number of subsets corresponds to the number of the at least two grids. Finally, each subset of the plurality of subsets is associated with a respective one of the at least two grids and the initial vector is updated based on the subset of the plurality of subsets associated with the respective one of the at least two grids.
