Abstract: Disclosed herein is a core-shell graft copolymer produced by coagulation of an aqueous latex comprising a quantity of particles of the copolymer and a quantity of a fatty acid surfactant, wherein the coagulation involves the addition of a quantity of a multivalent metal salt, preferably a bivalent or trivalent metal salt. Such copolymer provides in an improvement of the surface properties of moulded articles produced from such copolymers, as demonstrated by a reduction of the content of gels in the surface layer.

Abstract: A process for the production of an elastomer agglomerate composition wherein the process comprises the steps in this order: (a) providing a slurry comprising elastomeric particles having an average particle size of ≤150 nm in water; and (b) forcing the slurry from (a) through an aperture at a flow velocity of at least 500 m/s. The elastomer agglomerate compositions produced via such process demonstrate a particularly desirable high average particle size.

Abstract: A method for providing a resin having minimal discoloration comprises combining, in a reactor or a reactor vessel, monomers, an emulsifier or surfactant, and an initiator in solution to form a polymeric latex; directing the polymeric latex into a storage system comprising a storage vessel; maintaining the latex in the storage vessel for an aging time and ensuring that the polymeric latex exhibits less than 1000 CFU/ml of biological growth according to ASTM D 5465-93 (2012) upon completion of the aging time; and coagulating the polymeric latex, wherein the polymeric latex is exposed to a mixture of water and a coagulant and filtered to provide a resin.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the production of a polymer comprising the steps of: a) polymerisation of an emulsion comprising a reaction mixture to obtain a polymeric latex; and b) coagulating the polymeric latex by exposing the polymeric latex to one or more coagulant, and isolating the coagulated product to obtain a polymer; wherein the polymeric latex obtained under a) is stored prior to coagulation step b) for at most such a time that the polymeric latex contains ≤500 CFU/ml of pigment-producing organisms as determined in accordance with ASTM D 5465-93 (2012) when subjecting the polymeric latex to coagulation step b). Such process allows for the production of a polymer having a reduced discoloration. The polymers may have a desirable appearance such as an opaque, white appearance.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the production of a polymer using a compound comprising at least 2 unsaturated carbon-carbon bonds, wherein the process comprises a polymerization section and a purification section, wherein the product from the polymerization section is subjected in the purification section to a sequence of purification steps comprising: removal of the vapor phase from the product from the polymerization section by means of flash separation to obtain a first vapor phase and a polymerization product; subjecting the first vapor phase to a compression and condensation treatment to obtain a second vapor phase and a condensed monomer phase; wherein the purification steps are conducted in this order. Such process allows for the optimal utilisation of raw materials in the polymerization process.
