Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a communication method and system for converging a 5th-Generation (5G) communication system for supporting higher data rates beyond a 4th-Generation (4G) system with a technology for Internet of Things (IoT). There is disclosed a method, for a first network entity, for informing a change in coverage enhancement usage in a network comprising the first network entity and a user equipment (UE). The method comprises, in response to determining that a restriction on the use of coverage enhancement has changed for the UE, transmitting, to the UE, a first message including an indication of the change.

Further, the method includes sending, by the UE (100), a PDU session establishment request message including the PDU session type to be the always-ON type or the normal PDU type to a network (200) during an initial PDU session establishment procedure.

Abstract: A method for configuring a connection between a User Equipment, UE, and a 3rd Generation Partnership Project, 3GPP, compliant mobile communications network at the UE. The method comprises checking a service equivalency indicator, the service equivalency indicator indicating zero or more mobile communications networks the UE is permitted to transmit a new request for a PDN connection corresponding to a previously rejected request for a PDN connection. If the service equivalency indicator indicates that there is at least one mobile communications network including the mobile communications network to which the UE is currently attached for which it is permitted to transmit a request for a PDN connection corresponding to a previously rejected request for a PDN connection, and a new PDN connection corresponding to a previously rejected request for a PDN connection is required, the method further comprises transmitting a new request for a PDN connection, the new request corresponding to a previously rejected request for a PDN connection.

Abstract: Embodiments herein provide a method for managing short data service (SDS) communication in a mission critical data (MCData) communication system. The method includes determining, by a transmitting MCData UE, whether a pre-determined criteria is met for transmitting a one-to-one standalone SDS message or a group standalone SDS message to receiving MCData UE(s). Further, the method includes determining data size of the one-to-one standalone SDS message or group standalone SDS message. Furthermore, the method includes transmitting the one-to-one standalone SDS message to the receiving MCData UE for one-to-one communication or group communication using one of a signaling control plane and a media plane based the determined data size of the one-to-one standalone SDS message or group standalone SDS message.
