Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are provided for transmitting and receiving system information (SI). A method for receiving SI by a user equipment (UE) in a mobile communication system includes receiving, by the UE, the SI including first partial bits of a system frame number (SFN) without second partial bits of the SFN on a broadcast channel (BCH) at a first subframe of a radio frame, the first partial bits of the SFN having the same value during a predetermined N successive radio frames of a BCH transmission period, where N is a positive integer; and acquiring, by the UE, the second partial bits of the SFN for the radio frame, the second partial bits of the SFN having different values in different radio frames of the predetermined N successive radio frames of the BCH transmission period.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are provided for transmitting uplink control information by a UE in a mobile communication system. It is identified whether signaling information indicating simultaneous transmission of first uplink control information and second uplink control information is received. It is determined whether a transmission time of the first uplink control information overlaps a transmission time of the second uplink control information. The first uplink control information is transmitted without the second uplink control information, in case that the transmission times overlap each other and the signaling information is not received.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method performed by a node B for providing downlink control information (DCI) to one user equipment (UE) in order to enable communication over a plurality of cells in a communication system, including configuring, by the Node B, a DCI format to be used for a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH), transmitting, by the Node B, at least one PDCCH in a common search space (CSS), and transmitting, by the Node B, at least one PDCCH in each of a plurality of UE dedicated search spaces (UE-DSSs), wherein a CSS for receiving system information is common to the plurality of cells, wherein the plurality of UE-DSSs are configured for communication with respect to the plurality of cells, respectively, and wherein each of the plurality of cells corresponds to a cell identity which is UE-specific and configured based on higher layer signaling from the Node B.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method performed by a user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system, including identifying first offset information and second offset information, determining a size of uplink data for the UE, and transmitting, to a base station in the wireless communication system, the uplink data with at least one of acknowledgement/non-acknowledgment (ACK/NACK) information and channel quality indicator (CQI) information on a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH), wherein a number of symbols for the ACK/NACK information is determined based on the first offset information and the size of the uplink data, and wherein a number of symbols for the CQI information is determined based on the second offset information and the size of the uplink data.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for determining acknowledgement/negative acknowledgement (ACK/NACK) resources at a user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system. Control information is received on a downlink control channel for data transmission and the control information is decoded. It is determined whether a scheduling type of a data channel for the data transmission is persistent or non-persistent based on the decoded downlink control information. A resource for transmission of an ACK/NACK is determined based on the determined scheduling type of the data channel.
