According to the method, in a digital TV apparatus with the application executing function, a power supply of a general-purpose CPU platform which processes data required for executing an application and a power supply of a decoding unit which decodes digital broadcasting data and outputs the decoded data on a screen are controlled separately.

A method and apparatus for overlaying broadcast video with application graphics in a digital TV having an application-execution function are provided. The apparatus includes a decoding unit which decodes a received digital broadcast signal and outputs a video signal, a memory unit which stores graphic data used for the application, and an embedded central processing unit (CPU) comprising a video processor which overlays the video signal directly received through a dedicated input port from the decoding unit with the graphic data stored in the memory unit, so that the overlaid result makes one screen.

An apparatus, system, and method for transmitting content in a home network is provided in which predetermined content is recorded according to preprogrammed recording information set by a user. The content is transcoded and encrypted using a content storage device and then encrypted and transmitted to a user selected mobile device. The apparatus includes a receiving unit, a recording setting unit, a transcoding unit, an encrypting/authenticating unit, and a control unit. The receiving unit receives content. The recording setting unit allows a user to set preprogrammed recording information and then records the received content according to the information. The transcoding unit transcodes the recorded content. The encrypting/authenticating unit encrypts the transcoded content and performs authentication with respect to the predetermined mobile device. The control unit controls the received content, the recorded content to be transcoded, and checks the predetermined mobile device selected when the user sets preprogrammed recording.

According to the digital TV and method, if the digital TV is turned on, digital broadcast data is received and decoded irrespective of whether or not system booting is completed, and while the system booting is performed, the decoded signal is made to be output to a display apparatus. Accordingly, after the digital TV is turned on, a user does not need to wait until the system booting is completed and can watch the digital broadcasting while the booting process is being performed.
