Abstract: An antenna system includes a loop conductor and non-loop conductor configured to provide respective loop and dipole antenna functionality. A signal feed mechanism connects to both conductors at a signal feed point for simultaneous signal transceiving. The non-loop conductor comprises two elongate arms with an offset feed point creating shorter and longer arms, where the longer arm has increased width via a loop-shaped portion. When incorporated in eyewear devices, the loop-shaped portion extends circumferentially along a lens holder to retain lenses. The conductors may be configured through a diplexer for different frequency domains, with the non-loop conductor serving as a GPS antenna and the loop conductor as a data communication antenna. The radiation patterns of the conductors may be substantially orthogonal when driven by the signal feed mechanism. The system provides integrated antenna and mechanical functionality in wearable devices.

Abstract: Apparatuses and systems are disclosed and can include a case for eyewear having an eyewear body carrying onboard electronic components that comprise a heat source that generates heat during electrically powered operation is disclosed. The case can hold the eyewear when the eyewear are in a stowed position. The case can further include one or more supports to support the eyewear in the stowed position within the holding space. One or more heat sinks are integrated with the one or more supports. Each of the one or more heat sinks are thermally conductive coupled with a corresponding heat sink of the eyewear. A first heat conduction pathway is thermally connected to the one or more heat sinks and can extend into the case body to conduct heat from the heat source into the case with the eyewear supported in the stowed position.

Abstract: An antenna system comprises a combination of a loop antenna and a non-loop antenna. The loop antenna and the non-loop antenna is connected in common to a transceiver mechanism or signal feed mechanism. The non-loop antenna is in some embodiments provided by a dipole conductor. An eyewear device incorporates the antenna system, a loop conductor and a dipole conductor of the antenna system being integrated in a body of the eyewear device. The loop conductor may be provided by a lens ring that extends around a lens held by the body. The lens ring may serve both as loop conductor and as a lens retention mechanism.

Abstract: Eyewear including a see-through display, a battery, and a frame forming at least one electrical contact for connection to a battery charger for battery charging. The electrical contact is large compared to the size of a battery charging contact to allow easy alignment. The frame may be tied to ground in one example, and to a positive potential in another example. In another example, the frame may be formed into a left portion that is electrically isolated from a right portion. The left portion has a contact coupled to a ground electrode of the battery and is configured to connect to a ground electrode of the battery charger. The right portion has a contact coupled to a positive electrode of the battery and is configured to connect to a positive potential of the battery charger.
