Abstract: An analytical device includes a plate including a first substrate having a front surface and a back surface and a second substrate facing the back surface of the first substrate such that at least one detection space observable from outside is formed between the second substrate and the back surface of the first substrate, and an adapter. The first substrate has a first port having a through hole formed through the front surface and communicated with the detection space for delivering a liquid-containing substance into the detection space, the first substrate has a second port having a through hole formed through the front surface and communicated with the detection space for discharging a liquid-containing substance or a gas from the detection space, and the adapter is attachable to and detachable from the first port and the second port, and the front surface of the first substrate without the adapter is flat.

Abstract: An array device including a base having wells, a cover positioned over the base with a gap from the base such that openings of the wells are covered by the cover with the gap in between, an injection port communicating with the gap, a discharge port communicating with the gap and positioned apart from the injection port, and a waste liquid vessel which collects liquid that flows from the gap via the discharge port and is positioned at a level different from the gap forming a channel. The discharge port is placed to discharge a surplus aqueous solution outside the wells from the discharge port by an oleaginous sealing liquid to be delivered from the injection port.

Abstract: A method for filling an analytical device includes providing a plate having a detection space or spaces and ports communicating with the space(s), fitting, into one of the ports, an adapter having a reagent fixed on an inner wall of the adapter such that a first end of the adapter is fitted into the port, and delivering a sample solution into the detection space(s) through the adapter such that the sample solution and reagent fill the detection space(s). The plate includes a first substrate, a second substrate, and a side wall such that the plate has the detection space(s) between the substrates and that the first substrate has the ports, the first and/or second substrates is formed of transparent material such that the detection space is observable from outside the plate, and the ports include a first port for delivering liquid-containing substance, and a second port for discharging the substance.

Abstract: An analysis apparatus including a stage, an analysis device placed on the stage and including receiving sections which accommodate a sample and a reagent for biochemical reaction, and are communicated with one another through a flow path having an inlet and an outlet, a liquid introduction section which is connected to the inlet and supplies into the flow path the sample, the reagent, and an sealing liquid for sealing each of the receiving sections, and a waste liquid storage section which is connected to the outlet and stores as waste liquid an excess of the sample and the reagent and a part of the sealing liquid supplied to the flow path, an optical system which includes an objective lens, emits excitation light to the receiving sections and allows observation of fluorescence generated in the receiving sections by the excitation light, and a control unit that controls such that the sealing liquid and the excess of the sample and the reagent form an interface in the waste liquid storage section, and that the interface is formed at a distance not less than a fluorescence-obtainable distance from a bottom of the receiving sections.
