Abstract:
A process and apparatus for reducing pressure of a flue gas stream comprising passing a pressurized flue gas stream to a vessel and through a bed of particulates in the vessel to reduce the pressure of the flue gas stream. The flue gas passes from the vessel at a lower pressure than at which it entered. The bed of particulates is disposed in the vessel between the outlet end of the inlet conduit and the inlet end of the outlet conduit. If deposits develop in the bed of particulates, the particulates can be replaced with fresh particulates to avoid excessive pressure drop. Data may be received from a stream in fluid communication with the foregoing process and apparatus.
Abstract:
Processes and apparatus for reforming hydrocarbons to reduce the impact of contaminants created by non-catalyst coking. The reaction zone receives sulfur to inhibit the impact, and a control index is used to control the determine conditions with generally lower pressures. Additionally, a compression zone, pressure control zone and combustion zone operation are provided for the operation of the reaction zone at the generally lower pressures.
Abstract:
A process and apparatus of a gas-solids separator are provided in which a cap is disposed across an upstream end of swirl blades in a cyclonic separator to protect the blades from erosion by fast traveling solids.
Abstract:
Cyclones for gas-solid separators are provided, which are especially applicable for use in a downflowing third stage separator (TSS) for the removal of dust particles, such as solid catalyst fines, from the flue gas streams exiting the catalyst regenerator in fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) processes. A cyclone has a barrel having an interior, and a central hub disposed within the interior of the barrel. A plurality of concentric annular sections are disposed radially between the barrel and the central hub. Swirl vanes extend radially into at least one of the annular sections to define a swirl chamber within said at least one of the plurality of annular sections. At least one solid particle outlet is disposed at a lower end of the barrel. A gas outlet is in fluid communication with the interior of the barrel.

A cyclone comprises a barrel and a central hub disposed within the barrel to provide an annular section between the outer diameter of the central hub and the inner diameter of the barrel. Swirl vanes extend radially into the annular section. A shield is disposed at least partially within the annular section and at least partially within the swirl vanes. The shield radially divides the annular section into an inner annular portion and an outer annular portion.
