    Abstract: The radar system includes a split-block assembly comprising a first portion and a second portion. The first portion and the second portion form a seam, where the first portion has a top side opposite the seam and the second portion has a bottom side opposite the seam. The system includes at least one port located on a bottom side of the second portion. Additionally, the system includes radiating elements located on the top side of the first portion, wherein the radiating elements are arranged in a plurality of arrays. Yet further, the system includes a set of waveguides in the split-block assembly configured to couple each array to at least one port. Furthermore, the split-block assembly is made from a polymer and where at least the set of waveguides, the at least one port, and the plurality of radiating elements include metal on a surface of the polymer.

    Abstract: Example embodiments relate to underbody radar units. An example radar system may involve a set of radar units coupled to an underbody of a vehicle such that each radar unit has a field of view below a bumper line of the vehicle. The set of radar units may include a first radar unit configured to measure an environment of the vehicle in a first direction and a second radar unit configured to measure the environment of the vehicle in a second direction. The second direction differs from the first direction. In some implementations, the first radar unit is positioned proximate a front bumper of the vehicle, and the second radar unit is positioned proximate a back bumper of the vehicle. Other example configurations may involve using more or fewer radar units coupled to the underbody of a vehicle.

    Abstract: Example embodiments relate to corrugated radomes for protecting and concealing components of radar units. An example radar system may include a radar unit that includes at least one antenna having a radiation pattern. The radar unit is configured to transmit a radar signal based on the radiation pattern and receive radar signals. In addition, the radar system further includes a radome located in a direction of transmission of the radiation pattern. Particularly, the radome includes a stepped surface having at least one step that includes a height equal to one-quarter of a wavelength at a frequency of operation of the radar unit. The least one step is positioned on the radome such that the at least one step causes deconstructive interference of reflections of the transmitted radar signal caused by the radome.
