Abstract: A print head is disclosed for use in an additive manufacturing system. The print head may include a discharge outlet configured to discharge a continuous reinforcement, and an applicator disposed upstream of the discharge outlet and configured to apply a solid film to the continuous reinforcement prior to discharge. The print head may also include a cure enhancer configured to soften the solid film after discharge.

Abstract: A system is disclosed for use in additively manufacturing a structure. The system may include an additive manufacturing machine, a memory having computer-executable instructions stored thereon, and a processor. The processor may be configured to execute the computer-executable instructions to determine a characteristic of an existing point to be used as an anchor for a path of composite material discharged by the additive manufacturing machine. The processor may also be configured to execute the computer-executable instructions to selectively cause the additive manufacturing machine to discharge the path of composite material with a variable ratio of matrix-to-fiber at the existing point that is based on the characteristic.

Abstract: An additive manufacturing system is disclosed. The additive manufacturing system may include a matrix reservoir, a primary nozzle fluidly connected to the matrix reservoir, and a primary cure enhancer operatively connected to at least one of the matrix reservoir and the primary nozzle. The primary cure enhancer may be configured to direct a cure energy toward a tip of the primary nozzle. The additive manufacturing system may also include an auxiliary nozzle, an arm configured to mount the auxiliary nozzle at a trailing side of the primary nozzle, and a passage extending from the matrix reservoir to the auxiliary nozzle.

Abstract: A system is disclosed for additively manufacturing a composite structure. The system may include a print head configured to receive a continuous reinforcement, and at least one of a matrix jet and a matrix bath configured to wet the continuous reinforcement with a liquid matrix during passage through the print head. The system may also include a coating mechanism configured to dispense at least one of metallic and ceramic particles onto the wetted continuous reinforcement during passage through the print head, and at least one cure enhancer configured to at least one of cure the liquid matrix and cause the at least one of metallic and ceramic particles to coalesce around the continuous reinforcement. The system may further include a support configured to move the print head in multiple dimensions during discharging.

Abstract: A print head is disclosed for use with an additive manufacturing system. The head may have a matrix reservoir, and a nozzle base disposed downstream of the matrix reservoir. The nozzle base may include an opening configured to receive a plurality of continuous reinforcements coated in a liquid matrix. The print head may also have a cover configured to engage the nozzle base and close off a side of the opening, and a guide removably receivable within at least one of the nozzle base and the cover. The guide may include at least one divider configured to axially divide the opening into a plurality of adjacent channels that each receive at least one of the plurality of continuous reinforcements. The print head may further have a cure enhancer mounted at a trailing side of the nozzle base opposite the cover and configured to expose the matrix coating on the plurality of continuous reinforcements to a cure energy.

The method may include directing a continuous reinforcement into a print head, and coating the continuous reinforcement with a first matrix component inside of the print head. The method may further include coating the continuous reinforcement with a second matrix component, discharging the continuous reinforcement through a nozzle of the print head, and moving the print head in multiple dimensions during the discharging. The first and second matrix components interact to cause hardening of a matrix around the continuous reinforcement.

Abstract: A method is disclosed for additively manufacturing a composite wiring harness. The method may include directing a plurality of conductors through a print head, directing at least one reinforcement through the print head, and coating at least one of the plurality of conductors and the at least one reinforcement with a matrix material. The method may also include discharging the at least one of the plurality of conductors and the at least one reinforcement with the matrix material from the print head, and exposing the matrix material during discharging to a cure energy to cause hardening of a sheath around the plurality of conductors.

The head may have a housing configured to receive a matrix and a continuous fiber, and a diverter located at an end of the housing. The diverter may be configured to divert radially outward a matrix-coated fiber. The head may also include a cutoff having an edge configured to press the matrix-coated fiber against the diverter.
