    Abstract: Compounds comprising a lactam moiety, and a urethane or urea functional group are presented. By a preferred synthesis route, they are prepared using at least one polymerizable compound comprising an isocyanate moiety and reacting it with at least one hydroxyalkyl lactam compound or one aminoalkyl lactam compound. In preferred embodiments the lactam moiety is a pyrrolidone or caprolactam ring, and the polymerizable compound is a functionalized aryl isocyanate. The compounds and homopolymers and non-homopolymers thereof find useful application in a wide variety of arts, including: adhesive, agricultural, biocides, cleaning, coating, electronics, encapsulation, membrane, microelectronics, oilfield, performance chemical, personal care, sealant, and sensor applications.

    Abstract: Personal care compositions comprising a polymer-bound UV absorber are described that provide enhanced properties, including customizable UV spectrum protection, broad-spectrum UV spectrum protection, water resistance, and labile UV stabilization. The polymer comprises anhydride functionality, such as maleic anhydride or a derivative thereof, and the UV absorber contains at least one hydroxyl, primary amine, or secondary amine group.The personal care compositions may be used to treat and/or protect against burns, cancers, erythema, lentigo (“liver spots”), keratotic lesions, wrinkles, and cellular changes of the skin; and/or color changes, embrittlement, lack of luster, tangles, split ends, and/or unmanageability of the hair.

    Abstract: Peptide compounds of general formula (I) R1-(AA)n-X1—X2—X3-Asp-Leu-Lys-Lys-X4—X5-(AA)p-R2, cosmetic or pharmaceutical compositions comprising at least one peptide compound of general formula (I) in a physiologically acceptable medium, and methods for cosmetic treatment of skin are disclosed. The peptide compounds of general formula (I) were demonstrated to be agents making it possible to influence the pigmentation of the skin and skin appendages, by ensuring optimal transfer of the melanosomes to the keratinocytes, so as to make the skin tone uniform owing to an effect on the SCF/c-Kit signaling pathway. The compounds, compositions, and methods treat or attenuate age-related pigmentation defects and the effects of photoaging on the skin.
