Abstract: A system and method for water purification by capture of contaminants in an aqueous mixture is described herein. A system and method for regenerating the capture system is also described. An integrated capture and regeneration system and method is also described including a separation vessel that houses a capture bed and optionally an electrode in electrical contact with the bed with a power source for applying a voltage to the electrode. The applied voltage enhances capture of the contaminant from aqueous liquid on the capture bed and modulation of the applied voltage enhances release of contaminant on the capture bed into aqueous wash liquid to regenerate the bed. The aqueous wash liquid may contain a counter ion that binds to the contaminant forming an aggregate contaminant phase that separates from the aqueous wash liquid.

Abstract: Provided is an underwater holding-type lithium recovering apparatus 1000 including: an underwater holder 100 installed on an offshore sea bed; a lithium adsorbent 200 held in the underwater holder 100 and adsorbing lithium ions contained in seawater; a moving ship 300 installed with a cleaning tank 320 cleaning the lithium adsorbent 200 transferred from the underwater holder 100 and a desorbing tank 330 desorbing lithium ions adsorbed in the lithium adsorbent 200 transferred from the cleaning tank 320, and moved to a coastline when lithium ions of a reference value or more are filled in the desorbing tank 330; and a transfer pump 400 transferring lithium ions filled in the desorbing tank 330 to a reservoir 500 installed at the coastline.

Abstract: An ion exchange apparatus in which granular exchanger material is deposited to a level above a horizontal drainage for the regeneration medium solution of an ascending countercurrent regeneration process and considerably below an upper liquid connection. A timing generator that divides the regeneration phase into flow segments and rest segments is provided. To reduce the amount of regeneration medium required while changing only slightly the flow resistance and improving the exchanger efficiency, the concentration of the regeneration medium solution is increased to a value that without the timing generator leads to poor utilization of a given amount of regeneration medium. An additional layer of exchanger material excluded from the regeneration process is deposited to a level considerably above the drainage. An intermediate layer of exchanger material extends to a level considerably below the drainage, adjoins the additional layer, and can be mixed with the latter via a mixing device. As constituents of the mixing device, backwash nozzles are provided at the lower boundary of the intermediate layer. These backwash nozzles are distributed over a plurality of nozzle heads that are supplied via the drainage and spacers that extend downwardly from the drainage.
