Abstract: A method for processing feedstock is described, characterized in that incoming feedstock is processed to selectively recover biogenic carbon material from the incoming feedstock. In some embodiments the incoming feedstock is comprised of mixed solid waste, such as municipal solid waste (MSW). In other embodiments the incoming feedstock is comprised of woody biomass. In some instances, the incoming feedstock is processed to selectively recover biogenic carbon material from the incoming feedstock to produce a processed feedstock having biogenic carbon content of 50% and greater suitable for conversion into biogenic carbon Fischer Tropsch liquids. The high biogenic carbon Fischer Tropsch liquids may be upgraded to biogenic carbon liquid fuels. Alternatively, the incoming feedstock is processed to selectively recover plastic material from the incoming feedstock to produce a processed feedstock having biogenic carbon content of 50% or less.

Abstract: A process for extracting fuel products from waste rubber, comprising the steps of subjecting the waste rubber to pyrolysis to produce a pyrolysis vapour, subjecting the pyrolysis vapour to a condensation step to produce a pyrolytic oil having a boiling point range of 45-400° C. and a flash point below 25° C., and then subjecting the pyrolytic oil to a vacuum steam stripping step so as to recover a fraction having a flash point of at least 40° C. but no higher than 55° C., a boiling point range starting at 100° C. or higher, a density at 15° C. of less than 990 kg/m3, a total acid number TAN of up to 12, a styrene content of less than 7000 ppm, and an organic halogen (as Cl) content of less than 50 ppm.

Abstract: Jet boiling range compositions are provided that include at least a portion of an isoparaffinic blend component, along with a method for making such a blend component. The highly isoparaffinic nature of the blend component can allow the isoparaffinic blend component to be used in combination with both conventional/mineral jet fuel boiling range fractions as well as non-traditional feeds (such as Fischer-Tropsch fractions) to form jet fuel fractions and/or jet fuel blending component fractions.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method and system for converting biomass to biofuel, comprising a reaction apparatus including: a reaction tank configured to hold a process fluid; at least one mechanical rotating device comprising: a submergible chamber configured to operate within process, the submergible chamber having a first section including a first rotatable member and configured to receive biomass feedstock; a second section including a second rotatable member and configured to process biomass feedstock; and a third section including a third rotatable member and configured to treat the processed biomass feedstock effective to convert the processed biomass feedstock; a shaft in operable communication with each of the first, second, and third rotatable members for rotating said rotatable members about an axis; and a drive source for driving the shaft about said axis. Also disclosed herein are kits and methods for using the disclosed system to produce biofuel.

Abstract: A method of producing liquid fuel and/or chemicals from a carbonaceous material entails combusting a conditioned syngas in pulse combustion heat exchangers of a steam reformer to help convert carbonaceous material into first reactor product gas which includes carbon monoxide, hydrogen, carbon dioxide and other gases. A portion of the first reactor product gas is transferred to a hydrogen reformer into which additional conditioned syngas is added and a reaction carried out to produce an improved syngas. The improved syngas is then subject to one or more gas clean-up steps to form a new conditioned syngas. A portion of the new conditioned syngas is recycled to be used as the conditioned syngas in the pulse combustion heat exchangers and in the hydrocarbon reformer. A system for carrying out the method include, a steam reformer, a hydrocarbon reformer, first and second gas-cleanup systems, a synthesis system and an upgrading system.

Abstract: Processes for using pyrolysis gas as a feedstock or a co-feedstock for making a variety of chemicals, for example, circular ethylene, circular ethylene polymers and copolymers, and other circular products. In these processes, pyrolysis reactor conditions can be selected to increase or optimized the production of pyrolysis gas over pyrolysis oil, and the pyrolysis gas which is usually used as fuel or flared can be fed downstream of the steam cracker furnace for economic use to form circular chemicals. Operating parameters of the pyrolysis unit may be adjusted to increase or decrease the proportion of pyrolysis gas relative to pyrolysis liquid as a function of their relative economic values.

Abstract: The present invention relates to the use of a composition of additives for reducing emissions of nitrogen oxides and of at least one type of pollutant selected from carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons which are unburnt during the combustion of a liquid fuel in a compression-ignition internal combustion engine, said composition comprising: (i) one or more additive(s) selected from compounds having at least one alkylphenol group in their structure; and (ii) one or more additives which improve the cetane number, selected from alkyl nitrates, aryl peroxides and alkyl peroxides; wherein the weight ratio of the amount of additive(s) (i) to the amount of additive(s) (ii) is within the range from 1:3 to 3:1. The present invention also relates to a method for reducing emissions of nitrogen oxides and of at least one type of pollutant selected from carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons which are unburnt during the combustion of a liquid fuel in a compression-ignition internal combustion engine which employs this composition of additives.
