    Abstract: A shade matching method for a tooth obtains a plurality of digitized tooth shade references, obtains a three-dimensional (3D) surface representation of a tooth and associated color information defined on the three-dimensional (3D) surface, selects a region on the three-dimensional (3D) surface representation of the tooth, determines a plurality of correspondences with the common tooth shape of all the tooth shade references, computes color difference with each of the tooth shade reference from the plurality of tooth shade references, and records the label corresponding to the shade reference with a smallest difference.

    Abstract: An apparatus is provided for measuring far-field luminous intensity and color characteristics of a light source that includes a lamp test location for receiving a lamp for testing and a mirror positioned in a fixed light receiving position relative to the lamp test location and positioned in a fixed light transmitting position for reflecting a light beam from the lamp at a predetermined angle relative to the light receiving position. A measurement screen is positioned in a location relative to the mirror to receive the parabolically-condensed light image reflected from the mirror at the predetermined angle and a light detector is positioned to capture a light image reflected from the measurement screen. The light detector is configured to convert the reflected light image on the measurement screen to a digital signal and output the digital signal. A computer is configured for receiving and processing the digital signal corresponding to the reflected light image and calibrated for measuring luminous intensity according to an algorithm programmed in the computer.

    Abstract: A method for spectrally measuring colour density in colour printing, in which a spectrally resolved reference reflectance is measured for an unprinted substrate with a spatially resolved spectral measuring system at a plurality of measuring points. At least one colour measuring field, preferably a plurality of colour measuring fields, is printed with a printing ink using a colour printer. The spectrally resolved reflectance for at least one colour measuring field is measured with the spatially resolved spectral measuring system at a plurality of measuring points and in which a colour density for the printing ink is calculated for each measuring point from the spectral distribution of the measured reflectance. The measured reference reflectance and a spectral weighting function representing the printing ink. The invention solves the technical problem of improving spectral colour density measurement in colour printing.

    Abstract: The present disclosure describes a method and apparatus that can be used to determine various characteristics of ambient light when an ambient light sensor is located behind a display screen. The strategy of the disclosure relies, at least in part, on spectral decomposition of ambient light measurements into components (e.g., red, green, and blue components of an Organic Light Emitting Diode (“OLED”) display screen and ambient light). Following the spectral decomposition technique, statistical analysis are performed on the measurement data to remove the OLED light components from the measurement. This technique enables determinations such as ambient lux and correlated color temperature independent of the content displayed on the screen.
