Abstract: A method and apparatus for supporting a device-to-device (D2D) communication between user equipments (UEs) are provided. The method includes: receiving, at a UE, configuration information associated with a D2D data transmission resource, the configuration information including information of a D2D data allocation period and being transmitted from an evolved NodeB (eNB); determining, at the UE, a D2D data transmission resource offset and a period associated with a D2D data transmission resource bitmap in each D2D data allocation period, the D2D data transmission resource bitmap including at least one bit corresponding to bit value “1”; and determining a pool of subframes corresponding to the bit value “1” of the D2D data transmission resource bitmap, the period associated with the D2D data transmission resource bitmap including the pool of subframes, the pool of subframes corresponding to D2D data transmission resources through which a D2D data transmission is capable.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. The described techniques provide for techniques for signaling a transport block format of a retransmitted transport block of a slot aggregated packet. In response to receiving a negative acknowledgment (NACK) from a second user equipment (UE) for a transport block of a slot aggregated packet, a first UE may transmit a sidelink control information (SCI) message to the second UE indicating a transport block format for a retransmission of the transport block. Accordingly, the second UE may accurately determine a size and format of the retransmitted transport block. The first UE may retransmit the transport block in accordance with the indicated transport block format, and the second UE may decode the retransmitted transport block in accordance with the indicated format of the retransmitted transport block.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Some wireless communications systems may support retransmission optimization mechanisms. For example, a first network node may receive one or more signals, each of the one or more signals received as an initial retransmission and as one or more retransmissions according to a first redundancy version (RV) index order. The first RV index order may specify respective RV indices for each of the initial transmission and the one or more retransmissions. The first network node may monitor the initial transmission and the one or more retransmissions to determine an error metric associated with each RV index of the first RV index order and may transmit a request to transmit future signals according to a second RV index order based on the monitoring.

Abstract: Methods and systems for uneven segmentation of data packets to reduce retransmission penalty accumulated as a result of having to retransmit one or more of the last segments. The method includes segmenting a data packet into segments of different sizes, with generally larger segments in the first half and smaller segments in the second half, and transmitting the segments over an intermediate communication link to another node. The transmission of the segments begins before receiving the entire data packet, and retransmission of a corrupted segment takes place as soon as an indication indicative of the corrupted segment is detected.

Abstract: Systems and methods for data transmission protocols are disclosed. For example, a receiving device is selected to send retransmission requests when data packet loss occurs, and then a unicast transmission of data packets may be sent to that selected receiving device. Other receiving devices may be configured to receive the unicast transmission as sent to the selected receiving device and to process the transmission as a multicast transmission. Alternatively, a multicast transmission may be sent to all of the receiving devices, and the selected receiving device may be configured to process the multicast transmission as a unicast transmission for the purpose of sending retransmission requests indicating packet loss. Backup packets may be generated and sent to all of the receiving devices to improve content output quality.
