An electrode comprising a conducting substrate for detecting species such as nitric oxide (NO), carbon monoxide (CO), oxygen (O2) and hydrogen (H2) and a polymer matrix formed from a first layer only or first and second layers with the second layer applied to the first. The matrix forms a permselective barrier. Each layer has a first pre-coat or first and second pre-coats. Each pre-coat may be formed by: depositing a liquid form of at least one halogenated polymer such as fluorinated or chlorinated polymers onto a substrate and allowing the material to dry. A liquid form of at least one halogenated polymer adheres the first and second layers to the substrate. The electrode allows for detection of the target species and allows real time in vivo measurements to be taken. Blood flow can also be monitored. An electrode bundle with electrodes for different target species is also provided.

The apparatus for separating target and non-target species harvested from a waterbody includes a catch boat towable behind a trawler for towing concomitantly with a trawl net towed behind the trawler. An elongate intake conduit having first and second ends extends between the catch boat and the rearmost, that is, downstream end of the trawl net. The first end of the intake conduit is mountable to, so as to be in fluid communication with, an aperture in the trawl net, when the trawl net is submerged in the waterbody. The second end of the intake conduit is opposite the first end of the intake conduit and is mounted to the catch boat in fluid communication with a first fluid reservoir in the catch boat. Fluid containing harvest species and by-catch is urged along the intake conduit from the first end to the second end of the intake conduit so as to discharge fluid from the second end of the intake conduit into the first fluid reservoir. Fluid and by-catch are discharged from the catch boat.

The novel aspects of the invention comprise interconnecting the wing part (4) and the witness part (6) structurally, and applying energy for launching via the witness part (6), thereby ensuring that the witness part (6) can impart both strength and rigidity to the target pigeon, which may be used for a saving on the wing part (4) so that the total costs are reduced. When energy for launching is applied via the witness part (6) it is moreover ensured that there is no need for parts of the wing part (4) to be present around the centre of the target pigeon, but instead only parts of the witness part (6). This makes it easier to see the witness part (6) from all angles and minimizes the shade effect of the wing part (4), just as the effective height for stacking is made as low as possible.
