PRODUCTION OF HALOHYDRIN ETHER AND PRODUCTION OF GLYCIDYL ETHER
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable to obtain a halohydrin ether useful as a raw material for synthesizing glycidyl ethers by using a specific catalyst in reacting an alcohol with an α-epihalohydrin. SOLUTION: This production method of a halohydrin ether is to use a catalyst consisting of an aluminum alkoxide (C1 ) such as aluminum triisopropoxide and a phenol or a sulfonic acid acid (C2 ) [e.g. a (halogen-substituted) phenol or naphthol, a (1-12C alkyl- or OH-substituted) benzensulfonic acid or naphthalenesulfuric ascid] when (A) an alcohol such as a compound of the formula; R-(OA)n -OH [R is 1-36C (un)saturated) hydrocarbon group; A is a 2-4C alkyrene; (b) is 0-100] is reacted with (B) an α-epihalohydrin. The resection so preferably carried out by using 0.001-0.1 made times of the ingredient C1 based on the ingredient A and 0.1-3.0 mole times of the ingredient C2 based on the integrated C1 .
