The proposed method and system provides file distribution and data streaming in the MCData communication system. The proposed method and system provides a functional model and mechanisms to support mission critical data services. The functional model to support file distribution and data streaming, and associated procedures including one-to-one, one-to-many, and group data communications. Further, the proposed method and system provides mechanisms for optimizing radio resource utilization and backhaul link utilization in the MCData communication system. The proposed method and system provides radio resource utilization of the PC5 interface for the MC service, when multiple group members are under a relay node. Further, the proposed method and system can be used to reduce number of unicast transmissions between the MCData server and the MCData UEs by local routing at the relay node.
