The method may include receiving video data coded with an affine inter prediction, the video data including chroma subblocks and luma subblocks; aligning an affine luma subblock with corresponding one or more affine chroma subblocks, wherein the aligning is based on a position of the affine luma subblock and a color format of the affine luma subblock; and decoding the video data based on the aligned affine luma subblock and the one or more affine chroma subblocks.
