    Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide methods and apparatuses for video coding. A method for video decoding includes receiving a coded video bitstream that includes prediction information of a current block in a current picture. The prediction information indicates that an adaptive motion vector prediction (AMVP) mode and an adaptive motion vector resolution (AMVR) mode are applied to the current block. A set of motion vector (MV) resolutions in the AMVR mode is available for the current block. The method includes determining respective template matching (TM) costs corresponding to each of a plurality of MV resolutions in the set of MV resolutions based on the plurality of MV resolutions and motion information of the current block, reordering the plurality of MV resolutions based on the determined TM costs, selecting an MV resolution from the reordered plurality of MV resolutions, and reconstructing the current block based on the selected MV resolution.

    Abstract: In a method for video decoding, a determination, for a current block that is a non-square block, is made as to whether an angular intra prediction mode for the current block is a wide angle mode that is in a direction outside of a range of directions that spans a bottom left diagonal direction and top right diagonal direction of the current block. When the angular intra prediction mode is the wide angle mode, whether a block size of the non-square block is greater than 32 is determined. When the block size of the non-square block is greater than 32, an intra smoothing filter is enabled and the enabled intra smoothing filter is applied to blocks neighboring the current block to generate filtered blocks. Intra prediction is performed based on the filtered blocks to obtain a characteristic value for the current block.

    Abstract: Neighboring blocks of a current block include first blocks adjacent to one of a top side, an above left corner, and an above right corner of the current block and second blocks adjacent to one of a left side and a below left corner of the current block. Whether one or more of the first blocks and the current block are in a same coding tree unit (CTU) is determined. Based on the one or more of the first blocks and the current block being in the same CTU, a respective intra mode associated with each of the one or more of the first blocks is added into a most probable mode (MPM) list for the current block based on a sequence of conditions. A respective intra mode associated with each of the second blocks is added into the MPM list based on the sequence of conditions.

    Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure provide a method and an apparatus for video coding. In some examples, the apparatus includes processing circuitry for video encoding. The processing circuitry selects a resolution from a set of resolutions that includes a 1-integer-pel resolution and a 4-integer-pel resolution. A current block is encoded with an intra block copy mode based on the selected resolution. The processing circuitry determines a block vector of the current block. The processing circuitry determines a block vector difference of the current block based on the block vector and a block vector predictor of the current block. The block vector difference is in the selected resolution. The processing circuitry encodes prediction information indicating the selected resolution and the block vector difference.

    Abstract: A method and an apparatus for video decoding are provided. The apparatus includes processing circuitry that decodes prediction information of one or more blocks including a current block from a coded video bitstream. The prediction information indicates that local illumination compensation (LIC) is applied to the one or more blocks and includes LIC information of the one or more blocks. The processing circuitry determines a final scaling factor α_f1 and a final offset β_f1 of a first subblock in the current block based on the LIC information. The processing circuitry determines an updated first predictor subblock in a predictor corresponding to the current block based on the final scaling factor α_f1, the final offset β_f1, and the first predictor subblock. An updated value of a first sample in the first predictor subblock is equal to α_f1×p_i1+β_f1. p_i1 is a value of the first sample.

    Abstract: A method of video decoding performed in a video decoder includes receiving a coded video bitstream including a current block that is divided into a plurality of sub-blocks. Sub-block based affine motion compensation is performed on the current block to generate a sub-block prediction for each pixel in each sub-block of the current block. One or more spatial gradients are determined for each sub-block prediction. For each sub-block prediction, prediction refinement with optical flow process is performed using the respective determined one or more spatial gradients and at least one constraint included in the coded video bitstream. For each sub-block prediction, an output of the respective prediction refinement is added to the respective sub-block prediction to generate a final prediction for each pixel in each sub-block of the current block.
