Abstract:
Various embodiments are generally directed to techniques for reducing processing and/or storage resource requirements for retrieving an image from an image bitstream. A device to display compressed images includes a parsing component to parse a comment block of stream data to locate an entry associated with an image of multiple images, the stream data comprising an image bitstream of the multiple images, and the entry comprising a pointer to a location within the image bitstream at which a block of coefficients of a minimum coded unit (MCU) of the image begins and an indication of a coefficient of the block of coefficients; and a decoding component to retrieve the MCU from the image bitstream and employ the indication to decode the block of coefficients.
